Chapter 32
Pari's morning begins a few minutes after 5 o'clock with a pre-dawn phone call from Abby Goodwin.
"Abby, are you okay?"
"I am sorry to wake you."
"You didn't," Pari says. "I have lain in bed all night with my eyes open."
"Then that is two of us. I didn't get a single moment of sleep."
"Where are you?"
"I am on the beach in front of Isabelle's rental home."
"Lanikai Beach?"
"Yes. I have something to tell you."
Pari sits upright in the bed and pulls her knees to her chest. "I'm ready."
"Pari, to encourage you to move here to the island, I wanted to offer you my bungalow for a year while you got on your feet. I really wanted to be able to do that for you. But I can't. If you decide to remain, I will do everything I possibly can to help you find a beautiful place o
