1. I like them hot
RHETT CHAPTER ONE FREYA’S POV I loathe him with every bone in my body. And we both know it. Yet here I’m, ready to sign my life away with the stroke of a pen on a piece of paper, literally with a concealed gun jabbing into my side of the waist by one of the mafia’s gunmen. f*****g John. I’m mad-no, furious would be a much better fit term for it. I get that my step-brother John loves playing around with my life, twisting it according to his will just because he can but he crossed a level he shouldn’t have this time round. This was one I wouldn’t forgive so easily. When I glanced at him where he stood with his very hot right hand man-who I may have shared more than a just sizzling kiss with yesterday night- a few paces away from me, he only had indifference playing on his face. I glared at him then turned to the man beside me and he shifted his gaze away. My eyes narrowed. Did he plan for this? Did he somehow manipulate my step brother so he could marry me? Was this his revenge for me turning him down when he asked me to go to prom with him eight years ago just because of some stupid bet? I mean, I heard the wolves were quite the bitter species and the ones of rank like Rhett, could never handle a little bruise to their ego. “It has been a pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Saint,” I was still glaring at my brother when he shook hands with my now official husband. If someone had told me this morning I would end up getting married to f*****g Rhett Saint, I would have laughed right in their faces. Is he hot? Yes. With that bad boy aura and a charm that could have any girl swooning for him, he sure could bag himself more than just a couple of willing women. He was popular among girls back in high school and he didn’t hesitate in flexing how much attention he got. However, much to the disappointment of most girls, he went ahead to get into a serious relationship which lasted from ninth grade to the beginning of the twelfth grade. After that, all he cared about was smoking cigarettes and throwing the most prolific parties. And did I hate him? Very much yes. We were two sides of a spectrum that could never meet. I mean, once or twice or perhaps ten times, I don’t know, I may have pulled a gun on him, probably shot his leg too. Who could blame me? He was a f*****g werewolf and well, I was the daughter of the late Mafia King of Roxen city. While the wolves were sworn to protect the city, the Mafia clans ruled it. In reality, we knew they just wanted power as much as we did and that was why we found ourselves in constant battle. Like I said, two very opposite sides of the spectrum. Nothing gave me more thrill than fighting the wolves and then my dumb step-brother decided it's finally time to accept a truce. A f*****g truce. Who does he think he is? Jesus? “Shall we?” I snapped out of my thoughts, looking at Rhett. His face was a home to indifference, something that only served to irk me for whatever reason. “f*****g truce,” I mumbled under my breath. “Watch your tongue, Hot mama,” he threw me a lop-sided grin, attempting to wound his arm around me. “Call me hot mama one more time and you’ll be seeing your dentist sooner than you expected,” I pushed his hand away, not bothering to hide my displeasure, “I’ll be in my car,” I walked out of the room, stopping only for a second to shoot a glare at my brother with uncle Peter who happened to be his consigliere, before stomping out. The Lexus GT dad got me for my birthday three years ago before that inevitable car accident took him and mom, was staring at me with my Chauffeur Gomez standing by it. He opened the back door for me and I shot him a wink. What, I liked them hot. “Straight to the Saints?” He questioned, peering at me through the rearview mirror. I glanced out of the window and Rhett was coming out, his bodyguards if you could call them that, already on high alert and my brother by his side. His right hand man, Dayton, was faithfully by his side. Only if he knew what his right hand man was doing to me under the sheets yesterday night. “How fast can you drive?” I questioned. “Buckle up and you’ll see,” I caught his smirk as he revved the engine, blaring the car to life. As the car blazed out of the city hall, I caught the last minute look of panic on my brother’s face before he began shouting orders. Maybe it was the speed. Or perhaps the rebel in me but an eccentric feeling swelled up inside as a smirk grew on the side of my lips. I was aware of the car chase happening right about now but not once was I feeling unsettled. I liked it. The danger. The nerves. The constant edge. I loved it from the deepest parts of my core. It was like the reminder I was very much alive. I did feel quite empty though without my gun or its holster.Thirty minutes into the chase, Gomez quickly lost them as we found ourselves in an old cabin a few meters away from the lake. “You are going to get fired for this you know,” I said, smashing my lips against his without wasting a second. “Better make it worth it then,” He reciprocated my kiss and what followed was toe-curling s*x until we were both well spent. Now we were just laying down, smoking a joint while letting the silence swirl around us. I appreciated it more than anything. s*x, silence and getting high. Perfect combo. Especially when you could hear the sounds of the wind-driven waves lapping across the lake a few meters away from the cabin. “So was he good?” Gomez chose to ruin the moment . I tilt my head to look into his beautiful brown eyes. Damn! This man was definitely sculpted by the Greek gods themselves,” Hmm?” “Dayton. I know you were with him last night. He wouldn’t stop flexing about it during breakfast,” he shrugged. A smirk consequently broke on my lips, “What? Are you jealous?” “Me? Please. Like I could give a f**k about him. I’m way better looking than him,” It was hard to miss the definite tone of jealousy in his tone. It made me smile but at the same time threw caution into my mind. “Its just s*x, Gomez. I’m not looking for anything serious with anyone,” I said, taking a draft and then blowing the smoke out, watching it ascend into the air in small swirls. “Yeah,” Gomez sounded quieter but I didn’t mind. I was getting into my zone. The thing about getting high is that you just want to smile but have no idea why. Everything feels so dang peaceful and almost like you are dancing in this swirl of colors while ruling a world of your own making. “Are you f*****g kidding me?” Just like that, my moment was shattered. Gomez quickly scrambled into his clothes while I slowly turned my gaze to the man clouding the doorway, looking like he would explode any second now, his eyes glowing a luminous green. “Hello, hubby,”
