Chapter 12 Autumn is about to give way to a cold winter. Christmas is finally coming and London looks like an enormous tree, decorated as it is with thousands of colourful lights. Cafés are starting to brandish all their Christmas-themed merchandise to make you want to drink even more coffee (and it’s working big time on me). Shop windows are starting to get dressed up for the occasion, enticing passers-by to buy everything (which also works great on me). People out and about seem happier too. And so am I. I don’t know exactly when the transition happened, but I don’t feel like a tourist anymore. London has finally welcomed me as one of its citizens.
