Chapter 17
And we’re off again: nearly time for the regular internal meeting.
In reality, I was hoping that this break from work would recharge my batteries, but instead I feel more tired than before. I think it’s all about to start again.
As I cross the firm to reach my office with my indispensable cup of coffee in hand, I take a peek around here and there. Everything is as normal: Cindy has already arrived and, with her coat still on, she’s replying to the ten thousand emails she must have received over the last few days. Loren is also sitting there in her open-plan space alongside the other trainees and, as always, she’s already started devouring her nails. Albert has just finished yelling in front of Lisa’s desk and has shut himself away in his office, slamming the door behind him.
