And Wizards

Henry watched over the witch as she prayed to his sister. Sighing softly he shook his head feeling all her energy and sadness. He knew none of this was his fault; the shift started with no clear source. While he'd heard of the unease and unbalance in the otherworlds, to actually see what it was doing was hard to watch. He gasped in anger as he watched the threads of darkness enter the land and knew something had to be done. What, he didn't know yet but something. While his universe was known for unease and wars, this was on another level. True darkness had never travelled as freely as it was doing now. He truly understood his sister's pain and anger, she never trafficked with darkness and made ways for her people to be free of it. She didn't really blame him but her anger towards him was justified; she needed someone to blame. It was then he realized that if things were as bad as the otherworlds had been saying, this was bad...so bad. He knew Lucifer had been traveling in otherworlds but even he couldn't be blamed for this. Sighing softly Henry turned his attention to his world. His world, similar to Frigid Isle was dark and cold. But unlike Frigid Isle, his world was only thriving due to dark spells and the wizards who practiced. When his own people started fleeing for the dark threads he should have stepped in then. He knew it but he didn't and now he was ashamed for his people were suffering unnecessarily. Running his fingers through his white curly hair he screamed in frustration as he stepped away leaving his world in black rain. Alexius wiped the rain from his face as he ducked under the trees. For days he'd hidden in the woods away from everyone. He'd chosen to become a dark wizard at birth but this was nothing close to what he had imagined. Watching the rain fall he jumped in surprise as he realized it was black drops of water. He had only witnessed black rain once before and that was never a good sign. His aching bones warned him that he would need to head back home or for some shelter soon. When he should have been enjoying his final days now he was wondering if he could escape into Helena's world. He had a sister there and even though he knew she never knew he existed, he also knew she would understand his fears for his world his people. He knew his sister would never accept him but he was running out of days and places to hid. The rustling of the bushes behind him caught his attention as he gathered his energy into a spell. "Papa?" Came a tiny voice as a young girl pushed thru the bushes. "Melanie, what are you doing out here?" He gathered his great great granddaughter close to him shielding her from the rain as much as possible. "Im scared!" She began crying and he sighed softly. Of all his family, Melanie was the one he worried about most. She was born to a wizard dad and a witch mother. It became apparent when her powers became know. She was more witch than wizard but with the issues in Helena's world, he feared she would be just as rejected there as she was here. At least he was here to protect her, but what would happen when he was gone. Holding her close he prepared to leave the woods. She cling to him still crying as he picked her up and carried her out of the woods. They headed toward the small house where the elders were now gathering. Inside the small house, he quickly dried her off and placed her in front of a small fireplace. In this house, this space and these wizards, here was the only safe place left in this world for the two of them. Here Melanie wasn't judged because of her genetics, her uniqueness was secretly celebrated. The elder wizards adored Melanie mainly because many of them were also of mixed blood. Also this was a safe place for this was the last place witches still felt comfortable coming to in this world. Here Melanie could use her light magic freely without judgement and learn from those who shared her powers. As he looked around at the other wizards, he quickly realized many of them shared his same fears. The weight of their worries evident in their eyes, actions, movements. He approached one of his closest friends, Shayla. The two of them had be friends almost since birth. She had been the first person he spoke to after having said goodbye to his sister. Anita was born of to the same wizard parents as him but somehow from birth everyone knew she was a witch. Dark spells made her sick to the point she had passed out on multiple occasions. Having no choice their parents sent her across the veil that keep the two world separate. He knew that even a young as she was, her memories of her time here had been erased from her memory. The family that took her in promised she would know nothing of the wizard blood that ran threw her veins. So far, from what he'd seen, they had held their end of that promise. "You still miss her even after all this time." Shayla's voice broke into his thoughts. He looked at her and was surprised to find his eyes wet with tears. "Yes, especially with everything going on now. Last i heard about her, her name had been changed and she was doing well there. No one seems able to give me anymore information and that was...wow... Ninety years or so ago. I just wished i knew if she was still alive and ok with this balance shift. Pure darkness is never good and Henry is not happy about this. I can only imagine what Helena's feeling the witches have never endured darkness in this magnitude." Shayla held him close, "She'll be fine and so will we. Just focus on Melanie for this could be bad for years before it gets better. Also prepare her; the witches aren't coming here as much anymore. She may have to be sent thru the veil if things get worst and you will have to be the one to do it. Her parents are so far into practicing darkness they cant accept that she's pure witch. The fact that not one witch has been here in over a month worries me because it means things are getting worst for them as well. You may have to make a choice and soon for Melanie's sake and wellbeing." Alexius sighed softly as he looked over at Melanie who had fallen asleep in front of the fire. As a smile crossed her face he wiped his tears and looked Shayla in the eyes. "I would give my life gladly to save hers and have no regrets about it."
