Ivy’s POV
The city skyline shines in the distance, its lights reflecting off the rain-slicked streets like shattered glass. My pulse accelerates as I stand in front of Griffin’s office, wet to the bone. I didn’t intend on coming here, yet his statement haunts me.
We need to discuss. Now.
I take a hesitant breath and push open the door. The place is oddly silent, the buzz of electric lights the sole sound. I half expect to find it vacant, but as I round the corner, I see him—Griffin, standing at the window, his back to me. His profile is taut, shoulders straight as if the weight of the world is pushing down on him.
“Ivy,” he says without looking around. His voice is cooler than I’ve ever heard it. “Close the door.”
