As I sit in front of my laptop and go through a pile of files at night, the air is strained. It kills my eyes to stare at this, yet I can't stop. I'm too close to finally getting Victor and Marissa to give up.
The evidence on the hard drive I seized from Marissa's workplace is powerful enough to bring them both to justice. Here, concealed in a tangle of files and private communications, is every swindle, bribe, and rumor about their intention to operate together. It’s all set out before me, evidence that might not only clear my reputation but also mend what Victor and Marissa have attempted to damage.
But just as I start to feel optimistic, my phone rings on the table, bringing me back to the real world.
