Walking downstairs I followed the smell of sweet apple pie. My mouth watered as I nearly tripped over Oliver also padding quickly to the kitchen. It must have been time to eat for him as well. Ms. Frey was the kindest of women. She had that grandma energy even though she never had children of her own. She simply cared for the fallen and the home we shared. She tells me I can’t tell anyone but I am her favorite of us. As she placed a huge plate of food in front of me my partial human side came out to devour the entire plate of steak and roasted garlic potatoes. The side of apple pie topped with a melting scoop of ice cream was the perfect end to this meal. I loved food. I was one of the few fallen who chose to eat earthly foods.
I was giddy to find that Ms. Frey had kept the garage as nice as the house. My stall was pristine. I strapped on my helmet and took off on my motorcycle that I had borrowed from Xadrian the last time we spoke. For some reason my heart was betraying my head and it started to race as I got closer to the coven’s compound. We were over. Things had ended badly and quickly when I ascended last time. I decided to clear my memories to live in peace the last two decades in Ramora. The home of the stars. He had made it clear he didn’t want any connection with me and it would be a great reset for us both if I couldn't monitor him from Ramora.

The water was dripping off my body as I once again used every drop of hot water to soothe my body. It had been years of trying to suppress my inner wolf. He had to make things so fu*king difficult. I have been restless for years. I refused to let him out. The only thing taking away the ache was drinking a concoction I was gifted from Marissa, a witch. It was a mixture of wolfsbane, bourbon, and vervain. It burned but stopped the pain. My wolf was searching for her, but she was gone. I had done this to myself and I was doomed to live through it for an eternity. She had vowed to never return and I believed her.
I left the bathroom and walked into my bedroom. Marissa was laying naked in my bed. Another temporary fix. I tried to focus on getting dressed. Opening up my top drawer I grabbed a photo and stared into the eyes of the reason I was in pain everyday. Stuffing it under some clothes I grabbed what I needed and turned around to Marissa staring back at me from the bed. She looked terrified. Before I could ask she spoke in almost a whisper “A fallen has returned”
It has been twenty years. I don’t look a day older but I feel like it has been hundreds of years since a fallen has visited earth. My mind was doing the math. It was Picen’s turn to fall. I had to find him. I needed answers.
