ā āThe Girl Who Shouldnāt Existā
The night was too quiet.
Too still.
Alexander stood by the glass window of his penthouse, the city lights reflecting in his dark eyes. A glass of whiskey rested in his hand, untouched.
Cold.
Unbothered.
Untouchable.
Love?
He didnāt believe in it.
Not after what it did to his family.
Not after what it turned his parents into.
āStill thinking about it?ā
The voice came from behind.
Lian.
Alexanderās younger brother stepped into the room, calm as always, his gaze fixed on him.
Alexander didnāt turn.
āThereās nothing to think about.ā
Lian leaned against the wall slightly. āYou say that every time⦠but your silence says something else.ā
Before Alexander could respondā
A knock came.
Then the door opened without waiting.
Daniel walked in, tension written all over his face.
āWe have a problem.ā
Alexander finally turned.
āWhat is it?ā
Daniel hesitated.
Then said itā
āShe escaped.ā
Silence.
Sharp.
Dangerous.
Alexanderās eyes darkened instantly.
āā¦Fuan wonāt like that.ā
As if on cueā
Another knock.
This timeā
Rushed.
Urgent.
The door swung open again.
Kalva stood there, breathing heavily.
āSirāthereās a girl downstairs⦠she forced her way past securityāā
Before she could finishā
A voice echoed from behind her.
Weak.
Shaking.
āā¦Pleaseā¦ā
Everyone turned.
And there she was.
Michelle.
Her hair messy, clothes stained, fear written all over her faceā
But her eyesā¦
Her eyes held something deeper.
Something broken.
Something dangerous.
She stepped forward slowly.
āI⦠I donāt have anywhere else to goā¦ā
Kalva looked confused.
Daniel looked tense.
Lian watched quietly.
But Alexanderā
Alexander just stared at her.
Like he was trying to understand something he couldnāt explain.
Their eyes met.
And in that momentā
Something shifted.
Something he didnāt want.
Didnāt understand.
Didnāt trust.
āWho sent you?ā he asked coldly.
Michelle shook her head quickly. āNo one⦠I swear⦠I justāā
Her voice cracked.
āI just need helpā¦ā
Silence filled the room again.
Heavy.
Thenā
Footsteps.
Slow.
Authoritative.
Everyone turned.
Mr. Alexander entered first.
Followed by his wife.
And behind themā
Grandmother.
Her presence alone changed the atmosphere.
āWhat is going on here?ā his fatherās voice was sharp.
His motherās eyes landed on Michelle instantlyājudging, cold.
But Grandmotherā¦
Grandmother simply watched her.
Carefully.
Like she saw something others didnāt.
Michelle lowered her gaze, nervous under their stare.
āIām sorry⦠I didnāt mean to intrudeā¦ā
Mr. Alexander scoffed. āThen leave.ā
Simple.
Cold.
Final.
Michelle flinched slightly.
But didnāt move.
Because she knewā
Leaving meant going back.
And going back meantā
Death.
Alexander noticed.
That hesitation.
That fear.
And for some reasonā
It irritated him.
Not her.
But the feeling inside him.
āLet her stay.ā
The words came out before he could stop them.
Everyone froze.
Even him.
His fatherās eyes snapped to him. āWhat did you just say?ā
Alexanderās gaze remained on Michelle.
Unmoving.
Unshaken.
āI said⦠she stays.ā
Silence dropped like a bomb.
Because Alexanderā
Never did things without reason.
And yetā¦
This timeā
Even he didnāt know why.
