But this silence… felt intentional. Controlled. Like someone had designed it. --- Upstairs – Michelle’s Room Michelle sat weakly on the edge of the bed, her breathing uneven. The chaos from earlier still lingered in her mind. Fuan. The mark. Alexander. Lian stood near the door, watching her closely. ā€œAre you okay?ā€ he asked softly. Michelle nodded slowly… but she wasn’t convincing anyone. The fear was still there. Just buried deeper now. Then the door opened. Grandmother entered. Carrying two cups. Warm tea. Calm expression. Too calm. Michelle looked up. ā€œGrandmaā€¦ā€ Grandmother smiled faintly. ā€œI brought something to steady your heart.ā€ Michelle hesitated. Lian frowned slightly. ā€œā€¦Grandmother, what is that?ā€ The old woman ignored him and placed one cup in Michelle’s hand. Then another tray on the side. ā€œDrink,ā€ she said gently. Michelle looked at it, then at her. After everything… She still trusted her. She drank. --- Downstairs – Alexander Alexander was in his office when Daniel entered quickly. ā€œSir… Grandmother is upstairs again.ā€ Alexander paused. Something about that felt wrong. ā€œā€¦What is she doing?ā€ Daniel shook his head. ā€œNo one knows.ā€ That was enough. Alexander stood immediately. --- Upstairs – The Shift Moments later… Michelle began to feel different. Not drugged. Not weak. Just… calm. Too calm. Her breathing slowed. Her fear softened into confusion. Lian noticed instantly. ā€œGrandmotherā€¦ā€ he said warningly. But the old woman only looked at him. ā€œLeave.ā€ That single word carried authority no one could question. Even Lian hesitated. Then slowly… he stepped out. The door closed behind him. Click. Silence. Only Michelle and Grandmother remained. --- Alexander Enters The door opened again. Alexander stepped in. His eyes immediately locked on Michelle. Then Grandmother. ā€œā€¦What is this?ā€ he asked coldly. Grandmother turned slightly. ā€œSit.ā€ Alexander didn’t move. Grandmother’s gaze sharpened. ā€œI said sit, Alexander.ā€ Silence. Then— For the first time— Alexander obeyed. Not because he had to. But because she was the only person in the world he still respected. He sat. Michelle looked between them, confused. ā€œWhat’s happeningā€¦ā€ she whispered. Grandmother spoke softly. ā€œYou two have been living in war.ā€ A pause. ā€œAnd neither of you has looked at what is standing in front of you.ā€ Alexander’s jaw tightened. ā€œā€¦Grandmother.ā€ But she raised her hand. Silencing him. Then she looked at Michelle. ā€œYou are not a weapon.ā€ Then at Alexander. ā€œAnd you are not a machine.ā€ Silence deepened. The air felt heavier. More personal now. Grandmother stood slowly. ā€œI will not force love.ā€ A pause. ā€œBut I will remove the noise that keeps you both blind.ā€ She turned and walked out. Leaving them alone. --- The Room – Aftermath Michelle looked at Alexander. Really looked at him now. Not fear. Not chaos. Just silence between two people who had survived too much. Alexander stood slowly. ā€œI don’t know what she thinks she’s doing,ā€ he said quietly. Michelle whispered, ā€œā€¦She said we don’t see each other.ā€ Silence. Alexander stepped closer. Not aggressive. Not cold. Just… present. Michelle didn’t move away. For once. He stopped right in front of her. ā€œYou shouldn’t trust me,ā€ he said. Michelle swallowed. ā€œBut I do.ā€ That hit differently. Even for him. A pause. Then Alexander raised his hand slightly— not touching her yet. Just hovering near her wrist where the mark had once been. ā€œI don’t do weakness,ā€ he said quietly. Michelle’s voice softened. ā€œThen why does it feel like you’re shaking everything I believe in?ā€ Silence. Heavy. Close. Dangerously close. Alexander looked at her for a long moment. Then slowly lowered his hand. ā€œā€¦Because you shouldn’t be here,ā€ he said. Michelle whispered back— ā€œBut I am.ā€ Their eyes stayed locked. No war now. No enemies. Just something unspoken… hanging in the air between them. And for the first time… Alexander didn’t walk away. --- T.B.C… šŸ’¬ 700+ COMMENTS ā¤ļø 1500+ LIKES šŸ” SHARE
