â âThe Girl Who Shouldnât Existâ
The night was too quiet.
Too still.
Alexander stood by the glass window of his penthouse, the city lights reflecting in his dark eyes. A glass of whiskey rested in his hand, untouched.
Cold.
Unbothered.
Untouchable.
Love?
He didnât believe in it.
Not after what it did to his family.
Not after what it turned his parents into.
âStill thinking about it?â
The voice came from behind.
Lian.
Alexanderâs younger brother stepped into the room, calm as always, his gaze fixed on him.
Alexander didnât turn.
âThereâs nothing to think about.â
Lian leaned against the wall slightly. âYou say that every time⊠but your silence says something else.â
Before Alexander could respondâ
A knock came.
Then the door opened without waiting.
Daniel walked in, tension written all over his face.
âWe have a problem.â
Alexander finally turned.
âWhat is it?â
Daniel hesitated.
Then said itâ
âShe escaped.â
Silence.
Sharp.
Dangerous.
Alexanderâs eyes darkened instantly.
ââŠFuan wonât like that.â
As if on cueâ
Another knock.
This timeâ
Rushed.
Urgent.
The door swung open again.
Kalva stood there, breathing heavily.
âSirâthereâs a girl downstairs⊠she forced her way past securityââ
Before she could finishâ
A voice echoed from behind her.
Weak.
Shaking.
ââŠPleaseâŠâ
Everyone turned.
And there she was.
Michelle.
Her hair messy, clothes stained, fear written all over her faceâ
But her eyesâŠ
Her eyes held something deeper.
Something broken.
Something dangerous.
She stepped forward slowly.
âI⊠I donât have anywhere else to goâŠâ
Kalva looked confused.
Daniel looked tense.
Lian watched quietly.
But Alexanderâ
Alexander just stared at her.
Like he was trying to understand something he couldnât explain.
Their eyes met.
And in that momentâ
Something shifted.
Something he didnât want.
Didnât understand.
Didnât trust.
âWho sent you?â he asked coldly.
Michelle shook her head quickly. âNo one⊠I swear⊠I justââ
Her voice cracked.
âI just need helpâŠâ
Silence filled the room again.
Heavy.
Thenâ
Footsteps.
Slow.
Authoritative.
Everyone turned.
Mr. Alexander entered first.
Followed by his wife.
And behind themâ
Grandmother.
Her presence alone changed the atmosphere.
âWhat is going on here?â his fatherâs voice was sharp.
His motherâs eyes landed on Michelle instantlyâjudging, cold.
But GrandmotherâŠ
Grandmother simply watched her.
Carefully.
Like she saw something others didnât.
Michelle lowered her gaze, nervous under their stare.
âIâm sorry⊠I didnât mean to intrudeâŠâ
Mr. Alexander scoffed. âThen leave.â
Simple.
Cold.
Final.
Michelle flinched slightly.
But didnât move.
Because she knewâ
Leaving meant going back.
And going back meantâ
Death.
Alexander noticed.
That hesitation.
That fear.
And for some reasonâ
It irritated him.
Not her.
But the feeling inside him.
âLet her stay.â
The words came out before he could stop them.
Everyone froze.
Even him.
His fatherâs eyes snapped to him. âWhat did you just say?â
Alexanderâs gaze remained on Michelle.
Unmoving.
Unshaken.
âI said⊠she stays.â
Silence dropped like a bomb.
Because Alexanderâ
Never did things without reason.
And yetâŠ
This timeâ
Even he didnât know why.
