â âMarked by a Monsterâ
The air inside the room changed instantly.
Not just tense.
Not just heavy.
But dangerousâlike breathing itself had become a risk.
Michelle stood frozen behind Lian, her hands trembling, eyes locked on the man in front of her.
Fuan.
He didnât rush.
He didnât need to.
His presence alone forced silence into everything.
âYou really thought,â Fuan said slowly, voice calm but sharp underneath, âyou could disappear from me?â
Michelle shook her head slightly.
âI didnât belong to youâŠâ she whispered.
That made him pause.
Thenâhe smiled.
Small. Cold.
âYou were chosen,â he corrected. âThat makes you mine.â
Lian stepped forward immediately.
âTouch her and this becomes a war you wonât control.â
Fuanâs eyes shifted to him.
Slowly.
Almost amused.
âAnd you areâŠ?â
Lian didnât blink.
âThe one standing between you and a mistake.â
Silence cracked through the room.
Thenâ
A sound downstairs.
Footsteps.
Controlled. Heavy.
Alexander was coming.
Fuan noticed it too.
His smile faded slightly.
âAhâŠâ he murmured. âSo the king finally heard me enter his house.â
Michelleâs breath caught.
âKingâŠ?â she whispered.
Lian didnât answer her.
Because now it was too late for explanations.
Fuan took another step forward.
Closer to Michelle.
Slow. Intentional.
Lian moved to block againâ
But Fuanâs hand shot out faster.
Not to attack.
Not to grab.
Just to stop him.
And in that momentâ
The air snapped.
A silent warning passed between the two men.
Ruthless. Recognizing ruthless.
Then Fuan looked at Michelle again.
âYou donât understand what youâve done,â he said softly.
Michelle shook her head. âI didnât do anythingââ
âYes, you did.â
He reached into his coat slowly.
Lian tensed instantly.
âDonât.â
Fuan ignored him.
And pulled out a small black object.
Not a weapon.
A seal.
Dark metal. Marked with a symbol Michelle didnât recognizeâbut her body reacted to it instantly.
Fear.
Memory.
Pain she didnât even know she had.
âWhat is thatâŠâ she whispered.
Fuan stepped closer nowâtoo close.
Lian movedâbut Fuan raised his hand slightly.
A warning.
âStay where you are,â Fuan said calmly.
Then he looked at Michelle.
âThis is not love.â
A pause.
âThis is ownership.â
Before she could moveâ
He pressed the mark gently against the back of her wrist.
A sharp sting.
Michelle gaspedâbut there was no violence in the movement.
No intimacy.
Just claim.
Just branding.
Just war.
Lianâs eyes darkened instantly.
âYou bastardââ
But Fuan already stepped back.
The mark remained.
Black. Faintly glowing.
Michelle stared at it in shock.
âWhat did you do to meâŠ?â
Fuanâs voice dropped lower.
âI made sure no one else forgets who you belong to.â
Thenâ
A new sound.
Slow footsteps outside the door.
Heavy. Controlled.
Alexander had arrived.
Fuan finally turned slightly toward the door.
A faint smile returned.
âPerfect timing.â
Lian stood rigid now, eyes locked on Fuan.
Michelle backed up slowly, holding her wrist like it burned.
And thenâ
The door opened.
Alexander stepped in.
The room went still again.
Two enemies.
Both ruthless.
Both unshaken.
Both ready to destroy everything for control.
Alexanderâs eyes landed first on Michelle.
Then on the mark.
Something inside him darkened.
Cold. Dangerous.
ââŠYou touched whatâs mine,â Alexander said quietly.
Fuan smiled.
âNo,â he replied.
âI claimed what you were about to lose.â
Silence broke like glass.
And for the first timeâ
Michelle understood clearly.
She wasnât just caught between two men.
She was standing between two monstersâŠ
And neither of them planned to lose.
