CHAPTER SIXAn hour later Marquise stood beside Kreon, who was holding open the front door while watching the children as they filed out over the threshold. As the children crossed their paths, they high-fived them and continued out of the door, some of them wearing pasta stains from the pizza they ate earlier. “Good game.” a shorter boy said to Marquise, giving him a high-five. “Good game,” a taller boy said to him, high-fiving him. “What a hit!” a girl said to him, giving him a high-five.
