Luna Et Domino

_Let's not put off the things we need to do today till tomorrow_Jhope of BTS. I was up earlier than usual because I suddenly couldn't sleep. Too much caffeine in my system . I might as well get up and start preparing for work now. I rolled sideways and checked the time. 4:45am. Great. I'll try to nap later today when I'm less busy at work. It's Monday and I knew for a fact that it was going to be a busy week as well as consequent ones. My company, BLutech.co just signed a major contract with DOL:C and I was excited. Apart from the fact that it was a really big deal, DOL:C is one of the top tech companies in the country, infact it is ranked number one on the list of successful and advanced technology based companies. Even though we were not far off at number three, it was common knowledge that DOL:C was supreme and every tech geek's dream. I looked at the mirror in the bathroom and groaned at the sight that greeted me. Going to bed without allowing my hair to properly dry off was a sure recipe for a very tangled hair. I guess it's good that I am up early. Sighing, I picked up my brush and set to work untangling the bush on my head. One would wonder why I did not just save myself the stress and use the hairdryer last night seeing as I was too tired to wait for it to dry naturally. You see, I am a firm believer in keeping one's hair as natural as possible so I don't use a lot of artificial hair products, I don't dye my hair and I definitely do not use the hairdryer even though it's the latest model and is supposed to make life easier. Thirty minutes of careful brushing and detangling later, my hair was back to it's original bounce. It was definitely a lot of work; my arms would testify, but it's always worth it in the end. I made omelette and opted for hot chocolate instead of coffee as there will be plenty of that at the office later. Next up is a bath. While I ran the water for it, I checked through my mail and boy were there a lot of them. Great. I chose a vanilla scented body wash because why not, I gotta spoil myself if I'm gonna be working my ass off making money. Duncan, the driver was waiting outside when I was ready for work. " Thanks Dee but I will be driving myself to work today. You can come pick me up after work though", I told him and he nodded. "Be careful out there, it's Monday morning and the traffic is evil" Duncan said with a slight smile "I know Dee, I will be careful. Have a wonderful day today" "You too L" The traffic was indeed evil. I get it that a lot of people are out to make their daily bread and we all have to use the same roads but I'd be lying to myself and you if I said it did not bother me. I saw some people give up and just go back to sleep in their rides. They probably did not get enough sleep to begin with. Might as well make use of the situation. Just as I was getting to the office, I got a call from Lyric, my best friend and assistant. "You have a meeting in fifteen. I know the traffic this morning is a sadistic b***h but you need to make it on time". Lyric said as soon as I answered the call. "Right. I'm almost there" I parked in front of the building and let the valet park it properly. I perceived her perfume before I saw her. "Seriously tone it down a little will ya?" "some of us have really sensitive nose" I scrunched up my nose and took the mug of coffee from her gratefully. "I'm sorry but it's my way of making customers feel welcome before actually saying it" Lyric said smiling brightly. "Sure, whatever floats your boat. Thanks for the coffee" "Always" I had to stop by my office to drop my bag before heading to the conference hall. It was July and the weather was nice although it could get hot later in the day. There were quite a lot of people in attendance. The whole programming team was already seated as well as the heads of other departments such as the IT department, UI( or graphics creator) department, Marketing department, Accounting and finances department and of course the board of directors. So the hall was filled, literally. I quickly sat down so that the meeting could begin. The meeting dragged on for hours and by the time we wrapped up, everyone was hungry because we had onlytaken a ten minutes coffee break. I checked the time. Wow, 2:32pm. A total of eight hours. Thank God for that omelette and hot chocolate in the morning. I was still starving even at that. The others were leaving, most likely to appease their growling stomachs. A few minutes later, only I and Lyric remained. I stood up and stretched my sore muscles. "Let's go get something to eat, I'm starving". "Yeah let's do that" I wanted to order Chinese takeout from my favorite restaurant. "What do you want?" "Chow mein and Kung Pao chicken.... oh and dumplings please" , she replied. After placing her order I ordered sweet and sour pork and stir fried rice. It's going to be at least twenty minutes before our food arrives. "There's a meeting with DOL:C next week Luna". "I know that",I replied raising my brows. "So you're not gonna go" "Nope, I'm not" "Their boss might be there. You should use that opportunity to see what kind of person he is in general. Who knows, he might even be single and searching. Ya know what I'm talking about". Lyric was wiggling her eyebrows in a funny way and I chuckled. "I doubt he is a bad person with the way he handles his business deals. He doesn't seem like an obnoxious person so I guess he will be fine. Besides as long as it doesn't affect our partnership, he could be a douchebag for all I care. Anyway,I'm not looking for a boyfriend, I am looking for a money making endeavor" I winked at her. "Uugh you are hopeless", Lyric sighed. "And you love me nonetheless" I replied "Well it's not like I can sell you off or something...." she muttered "You are evil, so now you are scheming to sell me off?" I gasped dramatically. "Well I mean I should consider it right?" she was looking at me with doe eyes. "While you consider that idea don't forget to also consider dropping your resignation letter and a refund of the last three months salary too" I smiled sweetly at her, too sweetly. "Uum.... let's forget this conversation ever happened okay?" " what happened to the peace sign and the love of pigeons?" "I'll even treat you to dinner this night okay?" I laughed at her antics and swatted her hand away from my cookies jar. Seriously who eats cookies just before lunch. Gross. Just then the telephone on my desk rang. "Hello Noire," "yes it's my order, can you send it to my office please? thank you". "Our food is here". "Oh thank goodness, I'm about to vaporize from lack of nutrients". "Seriously Lyric what did you study again? theatre arts?". "You would definitely make it big ya know?". "Whatever", and she rolled her eyes. We set work aside and focused on our food which was tantalizing by the way. I'm a picky eater most of the time and dislike the idea of mixing different food. The mixture of too many types of food and ingredients always made me lose my appetite but I could never say no to Chinese. Honest opinion? Hamburger and fries do not hold a candle to any Chinese food. Even though there were no more meetings, we still had tons of work to do before office hours end.My desk was packed with endless amount of files and paper work. If we were this busy at such an early stage, I could only imagine how it would be in subsequent weeks. Hours of paperworks and email replies later, I stood up for coffee and only then did I check the time. It was almost eight in the night. Stretching, I walked to the adjoining office beside and saw that Lyric was still hard at work. "I think you should head home now, you will need to be able to get home on time so that you can rest well for tomorrow". "You too Luna, don't forget the bitchy traffic". "Of course, I will just grab some things to work on at home and we can head home together". I went back to my office and selected a few files to work on. Grabbing my blazer and bag, I locked up and waited for Lyric to finish up. While I waited, I thought of what to eat. I was not really hungry anyway since I really outdid myself during lunch time. I guess hot chocolate and snacks would do. I had to stop at a*****e to get a few snacks to munch on. I really need to go grocery shopping during the weekend.Oh and the gym too. All these late night food is sure to make me go out of shape sooner or later. Since I was not in the mood for a long bath, I took a quick shower and after, I worked for a while before calling it a day. I hit dream land as soon as I laid down on my bed.
