"Adora get up," I heard a voice say.
"No," I groaned.
"But you have somewhere important to do today," the voice said again.
"I don't care," I grumbled, rolling over on the bed.
"That is it, go get the water," the voice said, causing me to sit up quickly on the bed.
"I'm up, I'm up," I said. I looked to see who the source of the voice was, and there stood Alia and J at the foot of my bed.
"Told you it would work," J said, smiling up at Alia, "Now go get ready."
"Can't you guys let me sleep in?" I questioned falling back onto the bed.
"We did let you sleep in for the other six times you asked, but know you need to get ready," Alia said.
"Fine," I said, getting out of bed.
"Now I prepared some chocolate chip pancakes for you, so get showered quickly," she said, pushing me towards the shower.
I was greeted by warm water when I entered the shower. As the water trickled down my back, I let recollections from the previous night flood my head. This all felt like a dream, which may explain why I was able to process so much stuff so quickly. This is just a dream, and my alarm will go off in my ears at any moment, and I'll return to my horrible reality, but I don't want it to end. Despite the high stakes and great expectations, I know I belong here, which makes me even more motivated to win this war, whether it's a dream or not. With that thought, I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around me and my wet hair clinging to my back. I look to my left to see the bed made with a dress laid out on it and my beat up sneakers beside it.
Blue and white with gold details around the waist and shoulders, the dress was stunning. The dress's sleeves were made of white satin with a blue streak running through them. The dress also had a cloak, which was one of my favorite parts of the outfit. I couldn't stop the slight chuckle that escaped me as I put on the dress when I suddenly realized I was about to leave some people's fantasies. I suppose all those medieval period movies I've seen will come in handy.
I braided my hair straight down my back but left two strands in the front before I walked out of the room, slipping on my worn-out sneakers, and into the kitchen. As soon as I walked into the room, I noticed a blushing Jaluron and a smirking Alia, and I could almost sense the s****l tension between them. When they discovered I was there, things became a little awkward. J cleared his throat and turned towards me to relieve the tension in the room.
"H-here's your breakfast," he spoke, his voice shaky.
"Thank you," I responded slowly, then slipped into a seat around the island, "so what happened bet-"
"Shouldn't you be meeting the King soon?" Alia asked, cutting me off.
"Yes, she should be," J answered, then turned back towards me, "so you better hurry up and finish eating."
"Rude," I murmured under my breath. As I ate my food, I felt as though I couldn't because of the different flavors bursting in my mouth, and by the time you blink, I was finished.
"Let us go meet the King, " J said when he saw my empty plate.
"Bye Alia and thanks for the food," I said on my way out, which she acknowledged with a small wave.
As we made our way outside, I saw Aaroxx flying high up in the clouds and it was like he disappeared into the clouds, but it was only for a second because I saw him diving back down.
"So are we riding dragons to get to the palace?" I asked J, still not taking my eyes off Aaroxx.
"You will be," he answered.
"So how will you get there?" I finally looked at him.
"Don't worry about me, but you should get going; you'll be needed soon," he said.
"Wait!" when I turned to face the voice, I saw Alia approaching with my sword in it's scabbard in one hand and a bag in her other.
"Thank you," I said as she handed over the bag and sword.
"The bag has all your other goodies," she said, and by the wink she gave me, I could tell it was the other weapons.
"Well, I guess I should get going," I told them.
"We'll meet you at the palace," J said, causing me to nod my head. As I turned away from them, I put my index and thumb fingers in my mouth, causing a loud whistle to ring through the small space we were in. Not even a second later, Aaroxx came emerging out of the clouds and landed smoothly on the ground.
"How did you know to do that?" J enquired, which caused me to shrug.
"It just felt right," I said as I walked backwards to A. When I eventually got close enough to pat Aaroxx on the scaly cheek, causing him to let out a short burst of hot air from his nostrils, I mounted onto his back and waved to Alia and J, who stood there looking like a couple dropping their child off at school.
"We are going to the castle today," I told A as he was about to take off.
"Yes, little one," I heard him say in my head. I'll have to get used to that.
As we soared through the sky, I went through clouds and could feel the small droplets in each. The cool wind blew on my face and let the strands of hair blow around. My hands were in the air and a smile was painted on my face. Aaroxx decided to do some dome tricks while on the way, making me feel as if I was on a rollercoaster.
He landed in the garden further away from the crowd that was gathered in front of the queen's statue, I jumped down from A's back and made my way over to them. As I pushed my way to the front of the crowd, I saw the Kind standing there giving a speech with Killian standing beside him.
"It's time to take back our Queen," he said causing the crowd to cheer, "and with the help of the chosen one, we will surely succeed." Before he could say his next sentence, his eyes locked to mine.
"She's actually here right now," he announced, "Welcome your chosen one, Adora!" he said, making the crowd cheer.
As I made my way to stand on the other side of the King, I could feel everyone's eyes on me and as I stood beside him. It was silent for a few minutes, making it awkward, but then the crowd burst out into cheers.
"Adora Duras the chosen one, and Killian Evaney, my best soldier will be bringing back our happiness," the King spoke towards the crowd, then turned towards us, "Please bring her back."
"We will," I answered, my tone confident.
Two horses were brought out through the gates of the palace. They were both black and had gold armor, and as Sashanta said the other night, I felt connected to the horses. The King led us to each, and as we stood beside our assigned horse, I saw Alia and J standing among the crowd.
"Should I fly ahead, little one?" I heard A's voice in my head.
I told him, "No, I think we should travel together."
I saw him nodding his head from the other side of the garden. When I tuned back into the conversation I saw pretty eyes on his horse, so I quickly did the same.
"This is our final goodbye, so good luck and we believe in you," the king spoke moving away from the horses and to stand in front of the crowd.
As we rode into the woods, I could hear the cheers of the crowd and that's when I felt it, the love they had for the Queen and the desperation to get her back.
