I stood in the middle of the room decked in black clothing with my sword dry, Sashanta had given me clothes to change in while she explained what we were gonna start with. She basically said that I would be attacked by the nine dummies that were surrounding the room and they would automatically stop once the sword had touched where the heart should me, and the little red patch would help me know.
"This will test how you will handle a surprise attack," she had said and worried me.
As her one of her hooves was hovering over the black button, I started to feel slight nervous until I saw the dummies moving slowly towards me.
"Really, you made me nervous for this," I said, turning towards her.
"Always focus on your opponent," she said. I turned back around and suddenly the dummies held swords in their hands.
"Are those real?" I questioned looking at them.
"Everything is real," she answered.
I looked back at my opponents and suddenly they started coming faster, and as the first one swung, it felt as if I was no longer in control. My body was moving at it's own will, I felt as if I was watching a movie. My sword came down on one's chest causing it to shut down.
1 down, 8 to go.
I took the sword out of its hand while blocking an attack with the other, my feet took a step back just in time as I saw a sword coming down then I bent over, slightly missing the sword that was coming for my head. I quickly turned around striking it in it's chest then turned to another throwing the sword with a deadly aim making it lodge itself in the center of the red marking.
3 down, 5 to go.
I parried an attack pushing its sword back then making an attack causing him to shut down. I quickly pushed him forward making the sword that was coming towards me was now in the stomach of the dummy. I quickly swept in, pressing my sword on the red patch as I did this I could feel something behind me. I quickly side-stepped to see a piece of my hair chopped off due to the sword coming down, I took the sword that was in the dummy's stomach and threw it at the dummy behind me, shutting him down.
6 down, 2 to go.
I turned to the final two and as they charged at me at the same time, instead of feeling anxious, like I always do, I felt like a badass. As one came first, I countered his attack, making it easier for me to attack its arm. When his arm was damaged, I took a step towards him, pressing my sword to the red patch. As the other came up to me, I decided to take the easy way out, so I threw my sword at him, making him shut down immediately, and just like that, I was back in control of my body.
I stood there, my breath ragged, taking in my surroundings, and as the realization set in, I turned towards Sashanta who stood there slightly surprised.
"I could have died!" I shouted at her, "You know, next time you might not want to give them actual swords that could kill people."
"Do you think they are going to be fake swords when you fight? This was nothing in comparison to what you are going to do," she said, standing up, "You have potential. The power you have already has more effect on you than on anyone else."
"I still don't understand why this thing chose me," I grumbled, "maybe they should have gone with Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee."
"Who?"
"They're like famous actors but really good at martial arts," I explained to her.
"You were chosen for a reason, Adora. The answer will reveal itself later on in your journey," she said, walking past me to get to a wall with weapons lined up. "Now the sword can do a lot, but knowing when to use more than one is really important. So choose some."
I went over to the wall and picked up a bow and arrow along with some combat knives and a spear.
"Great, now let's start your weapon training," she stated and that's how we spent the rest of the night.
Luckily, due to my amazing precision, it wasn't hard, but when she had put me on a plank of wood and kept on moving it, that's when the problem came in. She had said that if I was riding a horse or an Aaroxx, it would still guarantee the accuracy of its landing on the target. For the combat knives, I learned how to throw them, which was quite easy due to the bow and arrow lesson, I also learned knife techniques. Sashanta helped me with spear lessons, and you would think because she was a Pegasus it would be easier, but it wasn't. I can't count the number of bruises I have from the number of times she knocked me off my a*s.
"That was great. You did better than I expected," Sashanta spoke as we stood in the middle of the woods.
"Thank you for the compliment and the training," I responded, with my now dry clothes and sword in hand.
"I'm afraid this is where we part," she said, looking around the dark forest.
"Will I see you again?" I questioned, but couldn't help to cringe when I sounded like a desperate girl.
"I'll always be with you when needed and besides, the animals are connected to you," she answered, "Goodbye for now."
I gave her a small wave and walked off but stopped when I forgot to ask her something. When I turned around, she was gone. I shrugged it off and walked back to the cottage I had gotten. When I arrived, I saw Aaroxx sitting on the grass and as I stepped out of the woods, his head snapped to mine.
"Where were you, little one?" he asked.
"Training in the woods," I responded, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight," he responded when I was about to close the door.
As I stood over the bed, I unfolded the clothes to see a bow with a quiver of arrows and combat knives.
