In his study, Chandler held a photo, examining it closely.
The picture was of a woman's back, wearing a white coat with long, silky hair cascading down. She was breathtakingly beautiful, even from behind.
Chandler felt he had seen this figure somewhere before, but he couldn't place it.
He shouldn't have recognized her since the photo was of Jotherin, and this was the only existing photo of her. Unfortunately, it was just a blurry shot of her back. Finding her based on this was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
"Mr. Chesterfield, we have a problem!" Andy Jackson, one of Chandler's men, burst in, looking alarmed. "Domingo and the woman we captured earlier have escaped!"
Having just caught them today, Andy felt deeply responsible for their escape.
He expected Chandler to be furious and punish him severely. However, Chandler just glanced at him and didn't seem surprised at all.
"I already knew."
Andy's eyes widened in disbelief. "How did you know?"
Chandler ignored him, his gaze shifting to the phone on his desk.
The screen displayed a map with two red dots—one moving towards the city, the other back up the mountain.
Andy noticed the phone and was even more shocked. "You put trackers on them? When did you do that?"
He hadn't noticed at all!
Chandler's icy glare cut through him. "How did you miss that? How ignorant you are!"
Andy bowed his head in shame. "I failed. Please punish me."
"Consider this a warning. One more mistake, and you'll face the consequences." Chandler tossed the phone to Andy. "Keep an eye on the girl. She'll lead us to Jotherin!"
"Yes, sir!"
Chandler wasn't punishing Andy because he had let them go on purpose. It wasn't a gesture of sympathy.
At the airport, when Aurelia claimed to know Jotherin's whereabouts, Chandler had secretly planted a tracker on her and deliberately put her in a lightly guarded room, waiting for her to escape!
If she truly knew where Jotherin was, she would contact her once she got away.
And then, Chandler would be ready to strike!
Unaware she was being tracked, Aurelia reached the city center and found a hotel, deciding to stay there for now.
"Jasper, thank you for saving me today." She kissed Orion on the forehead, softly reassuring him. "We're safe now. The bad guys are left behind! Go to bed."
However, Orion clung to her arm. "I don't want to sleep."
"Why not?" Aurelia asked gently.
Orion lowered his haze, his voice filled with frustration. "I'm afraid you'll be gone when I wake up."
He had finally found his mom after so long and couldn't bear to lose her again...
His pitiful expression broke Aurelia's heart. Her poor baby had been so scared.
Curse the Chesterfield family!
She swore she'd never treat them, even if they pointed a gun at her head! She preferred jumping off a mountain than treating those bastards!
"Don't worry, sweetheart." She hugged him tightly. "I will never leave you."
"How about this? I'll sleep by your side, and you can hold me. That way, I won't disappear."
Orion blushed slightly. "Is... is that okay?"
He had always slept alone. His father forbade any kind of hug, saying it made him weak. No one had ever hugged him, and he couldn't even hug a plush toy when sleeping.
"Of course!" Aurelia climbed into bed with him. "You're a big boy now, but even big boys can sometimes sleep in their moms' arms."
Surrounded by her warmth and the scent of gardenias, Orion hugged her neck, feeling dizzy with happiness.
So this was what a mother's embrace felt like. It was so warm and fragrant!
Unlike his icy and always aloof dad, his mom was like a flowerbed in summer. No wonder his friends at school always boasted about their moms. A mom was a thousand times better than a dad!
Aurelia planned to call Susan after putting Orion to sleep, but he still had lingering fears. Whenever she moved, he would cling to her, mumbling for her not to leave. So, she had to stay still and lay by his side all night.
The next morning, she finally got a chance to call Susan. But before she could ask how Susan was, Susan was wailing on the other end. "Auri! I lost your son! I'm so sorry! I turned away for one second, and he was gone! I'm a terrible person! I deserve to die..."
"Hold on, hold on!" Aurelia cut her off. "Stop blaming yourself. Jasper's with me."
"What? You found him?" Susan was stunned.
Aurelia was amazing! Not only had she escaped on her own, but she also found her lost son overnight!
"Yes, I ran into him by chance. He was scared, so I brought him back. Thank you for trying to save me. I'm so glad you're okay. Oh, Jasper's awake. I'll talk to you later," Aurelia explained.
Then, she hung up, leaving Susan puzzled.
What was going on? She hadn't gone to rescue Aurelia! She had only called the police.
Did the police save her?
That was possible!
At the same time, Autumn Mansion was in chaos.
Charlie went to wake Orion as usual. But as he opened the door, he found his bed empty.
A moment later, Charlie burst into Chandler's study in a panic. "Sir! Mr. Orion has run away!"
