I have a terrible headache right now. I checked my phone, but there's still no news about any mission - no underground fight or race either. My headache gets worse when I remember what Raven said last night. You see, I'm not the typical kind of princess you read about in other stories. I'm not pampered; I'm paid to kill, and I still work to survive. I earned the title "Queen of Mafia" because I am currently the strongest female Mafian. "Aw!" I squealed as I accidentally bumped into someone. I looked up and met his piercing stare. I gulped; it felt like something got stuck in my throat. "Why are you wearing your glasses again?" He asked. "I-I don't know how to put on my contacts," I replied. He furrowed his brows and leaned closer to me. I leaned back and gulped again. My heart raced even more when I caught a whiff of his breath. If there's a scent to being sexy, then that's his smell. Unconsciously, I wet my lips as he moved away from me. My throat became dry whenever he's this close. I heard him chuckle, which made me frown. "You're mine, remember that," he said with a smirk before walking away. I was frozen in my spot, still reeling from what he said, and I completely forgot about my headache. I averted my gaze when I met Raven's eyes. I didn't know how to react to what he said or what I feel about it. "Are you avoiding me?" he asked. I closed my eyes tightly as he stood beside me while I sat facing the board. "N-No," I stammered. "Hmmm, look at me," he said. I gasped as he suddenly squatted in front of me, lowering his head close to the desk. I instinctively moved back in surprise, and even Monique looked startled by his actions. "See, you can't even make eye contact," he hissed. I didn't understand how he could muster the courage to talk to me like this after he confessed his feelings. It's so uncomfortable and awkward for me. He stood up abruptly and cupped my face with both hands. I looked at him directly, my eyes wide. "You have to look at me always, Maureen. You're being rude--" "You're touching what's mine, Raven." I quickly removed his hands from my face when I heard Waldrin's voice. Raven nonchalantly stuffed his hands into his pockets and glanced at Waldrin, who was also with Christian, both of them looking bewildered by the situation. I bit my lower lip as I watched some of the other students gather their things and leave the classroom. "Stay out of this, Waldrin," Raven hissed. My eyes darted between the two of them, feeling the tension in the air. What's happening? Damn, I'm confused! I felt my phone vibrate, so I quickly took it out and read the message. Mission X: Annihilate Venom's Marikina HQ Details: blah.. blah.. blah.. I grinned as I read the message. I immediately gathered my things and left the classroom, but before I could go, Waldrin grabbed my arm. Damn, I forgot; there's a growing tension in the classroom! Every time my mission is about Venom, I lose myself in excitement. There's no room for love life right now. "Where are you going? We still have class," he asked. I looked at Waldrin, Christian, Raven, and Monique - the next generation of Venom. I feel sorry for them, for not knowing they are part of something hellish and inhumane. Once I finish my mission, I wonder if I can save them too? "Ah, work," I gave a vague answer to Waldrin. I started walking, thinking he would let go of my arm, but he tightened his grip. "You have to choose now, Maureen. Is it me or Raven?" he hissed. My jaw dropped at his words. "W-What? What should I choose?! What is this about?!" I was even more confused by my own question. I removed his hands from my shoulders, but he didn't back down; his grip got stronger, and it started to hurt. "What's wrong?! Don't involve me in your craziness! I have to go; this is urgent!!!" I hissed, trying to push him away. "Choose first!!!" Waldrin yelled at me. "Waldrin, that's enough! You're hurting her!!!" I looked at Christian, who tried to separate me from Waldrin. I glared at Waldrin, and he glared back. I need to get away! A stupid idea came to my mind, so I quickly grabbed Christian's collar and kissed his cheek. I wasn't sure whose gasp I heard. Taking advantage of Waldrin's surprise, I managed to escape and run away from them. I reached the school gate in no time, but I paused when I realized Monique was the one who gasped when I kissed Christian! Sh*t! Why is my life so complicated?! Whatever! I have to finish my mission first. I don't have time for love life. As soon as I stepped outside the gate, a white getaway van stopped in front of me - backup sent by headquarters. Now that I have backup, it can only mean one thing. Kuya Spencer already knows my whereabouts. It won't be long before my identity as a Marfori, as a Mafia, is revealed. "Any update?" I asked the team inside the van. "Children Trafficking," they replied briefly. I closed my eyes tightly upon hearing it - children trafficking! What the actual f*ck!!! "How bad is it?" I inquired. "You wouldn't want to know, Maureen." "How many are there?" I tried to calm myself. My blood was boiling with what I heard. I put on my bulletproof vest and cleaned my guns. "Do you really need answers?" I took a deep breath as I loaded the guns. With each bullet, I imagined burying them one by one into their skulls. They have no mercy for innocent children whose future they've stolen! I swear, with my last breath and the last drop of my blood, I'll erase all the evil that created Venom. After a few hours, we reached the Venom Headquarters. We waited in a hidden place where we wouldn't arouse suspicion until it got dark. I couldn't count how many vans went inside the headquarters; it looked like a large warehouse with delivery trucks of a well-known soft drink company coming in and out every now and then. I strapped the bandolier around my waist and filled it with bullet magazines. I'm armed with a handgun since I engage in mid to short-range combat, while my backup are experts in long-ranged rifles. "You've studied the building's blueprint, you know how to sneak in. The security isn't that tight; the guards are just civilians with guns," I reminded them. "Don't rush, Maureen; we don't have enough equipment here. We expect fewer casualties and mild injuries." "I know! We have to move!" I replied. They took a deep breath. We silently entered the dark headquarters. The Marfori Mafia has the highest caliber of men; even with just five of us, I know we're enough to take down all of them. I could do it alone. I cautiously advanced inside the warehouse and suddenly heard whimpering. "Why didn't you sell everything?! You won't eat now, okay?!" "Aaaaah! It hurts! Please stop!!!" My eyes widened as I witnessed a man press his cigarette on the arm of a little girl. The other children beside her were quiet, seemingly afraid to make any noise. "B-Boss, Ana's feeling unwell, she hasn't eaten for days," one of the kids said. I clenched my jaw and aimed my gun at the man. He was far from me, but I made sure each bullet I'd release would bury itself into their skulls. "Take her to the organ-harvesting group!" "No, please! Have mercy! I'll sell more!" I couldn't stop myself and pulled the trigger. The man's head exploded in front of the children. I quickly re-aimed my gun and the gunfight began. The children started crying as I fired my gun, shooting the goons in the head. Almost none of them could react to my speed. I heard the continuous gunfire from the rifles of my backup inside the warehouse. The children were crying, and I couldn't help but feel pity for them. "Are you all safe now?" I assured them. They huddled in a corner, sobbing, with their hands covering their ears. I felt a strong sense of empathy for them. "Can we go home now?" someone approached me. I patted his head and smiled. "Are you police officers? You have guns," the girl from earlier asked, wiping her tear-stained face with her ragged dress. "The important thing is that you're all safe," I brushed her hair. I approached the guy who was the boss earlier and tore his shirt. I needed to leave our mark. I sliced open his stomach and soaked his shirt in blood. M-Uno. I wrote it on the wall. M for Marfori, and Uno as my code name when I was with Venom. It's a declaration of war. I heard sirens approaching from police mobiles. "They're already here! We're safe now!" The kids rejoiced. I smiled at them and adjusted my hood. The authorities may not be our enemies, but they're not our friends either. "Go home, okay? Be good, and never go with strangers," I told them before running towards the back of the warehouse. Our getaway van stopped in front of me. "Mission accomplished, team!" Our leader announced. Though I hold the highest rank here, I never wanted to be a leader. They handed me a wet tissue to clean the blood on my skin. "Is my brother here in the Philippines?" I asked them. They were all taken aback by my question. "If there's one person I fear the most after Lolo, it's my brother - Spencer. He can be as ruthless as Lolo and stronger than me." "The questions you ask are the hardest to answer, Maureen. You'll be summoned soon, that's the only thing we can assure you of."
