I heard the loud noise of the spectators outside the Octagon fence. Octagon is the name of the ring used in MMA, and it's also what we call our ring for Underground Fights. I applied body paint on my tattoos and concealed my face as well. I braided my hair to keep it from getting in the way.
I was wearing a sports bra and shorts, and I tied my shoes. Fortunately, the fights started early, so we started the main event early as well.
"It's difficult to find a match for you! Just lose once in a while to add some thrill," my manager said, frowning.
"How much am I getting today?" I asked him.
"1 million."
"What?! My last fight was worth 10 million, why is it only 1 million now?" We were talking in dollars. The sponsors of the Underground Battles are wealthy, so the cash prizes are staggering.
"I told you, it's hard to find an opponent for you."
I sighed. I thought I would be making a lot this time. D*mn it! The organizer called us. I stretched before we headed out of the waiting room.
"Remember, don't underestimate your opponent. He's also undefeated. He's a big guy, so his hits are strong and heavy," my manager advised me.
"I don't care who he is. I'm in a hurry."
"On the left corner, the challenger!! The Mammoth!!!" The crowd roared. I winced; his name suited him well. He was a giant. He had a massive body, like a weightlifter.
"He looks like a pig," I remarked.
"Don't belittle him!" My manager nagged. I rolled my eyes at him. The crowd cheered as Mammoth flexed inside the Octagon.
"And in the right corner!!!!" The spotlight focused on me. "Our undefeated champion!! Thanatos!!!" The hall erupted with cheers and all sorts of noise.
Thanatos is the Greek word for Death.
I entered the ring and raised my hand. The crowd shouted my code name. I approached the referee, and he gave us the dos and don'ts. Mammoth was so big that he only reached my elbows while I stood at 5'7".
"Fight!"
We leaned against the fence. I stood there with my arms crossed. He charged at me with a jab, but I dodged it and kicked him hard in the stomach. He stumbled back, and I took the chance to jump on the fence and launch myself towards him, using the height advantage. I elbowed his shoulder, and I heard the bone c***k. Due to his size, I had to jump just to reach his vital points.
He kneeled, so I immediately climbed onto his back and wrapped my legs around his neck to choke him. The crowd roared loudly from the fence. He grabbed my legs and forcibly removed them, causing me to tumble as he was standing.
He's got some power!
I checked the clock, and it was already a quarter to 3!! He lunged at me again, so I climbed the fence and gave him a roundhouse kick to the face. The ground seemed to shake when he landed on the floor. The referee stopped me as I was about to approach him.
He checked on Mammoth.
He waved his hands. The fight is over, and I won. The entire hall erupted in cheers. I left the Octagon and approached my manager, who handed me a towel and a bottle of water.
"You rushed it too much," my manager said.
"I'm late, and the opponent was boring," I replied annoyed. We quickly headed to the locker room. I took a shower and put on my hoodie, mask, and shades.
"Check your bank account tomorrow. I'll contact you again if someone dares to challenge you." I just nodded at him and hurriedly left the Underground.
I was still carrying the heels that Waldrin bought for me.
I quickly hailed a taxi and gave the driver the address of the boutique.
"Can you step on it?" I said as it was already 3:05 on my watch, and I thought I was in trouble.
I ran inside the boutique. I gasped when I saw Waldrin sitting on the couch. He was sitting with his legs crossed, looking at me with a scowl. I slowly closed the glass door of the boutique.
"What time is it?! You're 30 minutes late!" he shouted.
"Traffic! What can I do?!" I retorted to him. I clenched my jaw and glared at him before entering the dressing room, where most of the staff were hiding.
"Where were you, Ms. Maureen? We were so scared of Sir Waldrin that we hid in there," the tailor said. I sighed.
"Let's go to the spa first," someone suggested.
"Spa?"
"Yes, please get a facial and waxing first," she smiled at me.
"What?!"
I can't even count how many times I yelped in pain. I've never waxed my whole life! I only shave. D*mn it! My skin was so red right now. They even threaded my eyebrows!
"Aww! That hurts!" I shouted as the lady removed my whiteheads. I felt like my nose was being deformed by the pressing and squeezing. They made me wear a robe after. I looked at my legs, they were so smooth and soft now.
My skin feels so soft and fluffy. They took me to the salon. They shampooed, conditioned, and blow-dried my hair. I didn't even realize I had fallen asleep.
"Open your eyes." I heard someone mumble. They put contact lenses on me, and I almost cried from the irritation. I almost rubbed my eyes from the itchiness. Then they started putting stuff on my face.
I even sneezed when they applied powder on my cheeks.
"Aish! Ms. Maureen please behave! We're having a hard time with you! Sir Waldrin might kill us!'' said the guy doing my makeup. I rolled my eyes at him. I couldn't see my reflection since there was no mirror.
"There! Done!" He giggled. He turned my chair towards the mirror, and I was shocked by my appearance.
"Oh my! What did you do to my face? I look so old!"
"You just look matured, sexy! Ganern! You're looking old there!" He pouted. I just glared at him. He pushed me out of the fitting room. All the staff were there. Waldrin was facing away from us, talking on the phone.
I held my breath when he turned to look at us.
