MAUREEN I gasped when, suddenly, someone covered my mouth and took me to a vacant room. I quickly elbowed him and twisted his arm behind his back. "Ahhh! Ouch! Stop! Damn it!" He cursed. I immediately released my grip when I realized it was Raven. His body still bore bruises and wounds from the previous day. "S-Sorry. Are you okay?" I asked, feeling concerned. I had to ask Paeng to watch over him since he had a fever yesterday. We argued about it because I wanted him to rest, but he insisted on going to school for a test. "Yeah, I'm fine. T-Thank you, by the way," he said, rubbing his arm. I was taken aback because I didn't expect him to thank me. But hearing it somehow felt comforting. "Do you want to grab some snacks? My treat," he offered. I tilted my head slightly, examining his face. It just felt strange to hear him invite me like that. "Are you serious? Okay then, let's go," I said. He smirked at me, and for some reason, he seemed to be enjoying himself. I couldn't help but smile when he laughed genuinely, without a trace of sarcasm. "Are you fond of sweets?" he asked out of the blue. "Not really..." I replied after taking a spoonful of ice cream. I was caught off guard when he suddenly reached for my face and wiped the side of my lips where the ice cream had stuck. "S-Sorry, you had ice cream there," he said, pointing to his own lips. I instinctively wiped my mouth with a handkerchief, and his grin was still plastered on his face. I wasn't sure what was so amusing, but he seemed to be having fun. "Raven, what's going on? Are you planning to steal my date?" My jaw dropped as Waldrin and Christian suddenly appeared. Waldrin was glaring at both of us, as if eating a banana split was a huge offense. "Bro, where did you get those bruises?" Christian asked him. Raven stood up, and I was just watching them. "Just got into a fight," he said. I looked at Waldrin, who was throwing daggers at Raven. I found myself glancing away when our eyes met. I didn't understand why I felt so awkward when our gazes locked. "Why are you being nice to her? Do you like her?" Waldrin hissed. I gasped at what he said. Raven and I both denied it, but I was surprised that he annoyed Waldrin. They're friends, after all. It seemed like they were about to argue again. "D*mn you!" Waldrin hissed. Fortunately, Christian quickly held Waldrin back before he could attack Raven. I kept shifting my gaze between them, sure that Raven couldn't fight back in his current state due to his injuries from yesterday. "Both of you, stop!" Christian spat. Waldrin looked at me, and I instinctively looked away. F*ck! Why do I feel giddy when he looks at me? Waldrin grabbed my wrist, but I shifted my weight to my feet so he couldn't pull me forcefully. "Wh-Where are you taking me?!" I hissed. "You're coming with me willingly, or I'll carry you?" he asked coldly. I felt weak, so he managed to drag me away. I had no idea where he was taking me as I just kept staring at his hand holding my wrist. I gasped when my back hit the wall, and then he hit the wall near my face with force. "Do I look like I share?" His eyes widened as if threatening my life. My eyes locked on his jaw as I watched it move. "What's your problem?" I asked calmly. I didn't want to add to the heat of the moment because I didn't want trouble. "Do you have feelings for Raven?" My eyebrows shot up in surprise. That's impossible! And why does he care if I do or don't?! "What's funny?!" he asked. I didn't realize that I was grinning at his question. "What's bothering you? I don't understand you!" I said. He clenched his jaw furiously, and I managed to glance at his eyes, seeing the anger in them. My smile faded. I was filled with confusion. Why was he acting this way? What's his problem with me? What did I do to make him this mad?! From the wall, his right hand moved to my neck. He brushed his palm on my neck and lightly brushed my hair away. I felt goosebumps all over. "I can choke you right now, but that's not what I'm gonna do," he said as he held my shoulders. Before I could react, his lips brushed against my cheek. He quickly moved away, his face flushed, and walked away without looking back. My hand automatically touched my cheek as I watched him leave. What the heck just happened?!
