Prologue
Kelsey POV I dance around my room listening to my favorite songs on repeat. Never in my life can I find any other way to calm down than listening to music. It is my escape, but in the last few decades, at least from what I am told and what I remember, music has been getting banned in each country. Australia is the last country to still have music. Suddenly, there is a knock on my bedroom door, I walk over and open the door to see two policemen standing there. "We are sorry to inform you ma'am, but you are going to have to turn the music off. As of 12:00pm today it is a federal offense." One of the two says. From the look in his eyes, he does not agree with what has happened. I look around behind him and see my mum standing in the hallway, looking like she is about to faint. I hurry to turn off my music and look back to the police. "I'm sorry officers, I hadn't yet been told. I don't watch the news you see, so I did not realize." "That's okay ma'am, we are told give y'all a one-off before any consequences apply." With that, they start to walk out of the house. I follow them out to go check on the horses but stop when I feel a hand on my arm at the kitchen door. "Ma'am." Is all I hear before something is slipped into my hand. I grab it but don't look at it before both policemen are outside and in the police car, driving off down the driveway. I walk out to the stables and tack up one of my favorite horses, before galloping off at top speed to my favorite place on the farm.
