Alvin
Today is the second challenge and everything is f****d. What happened in the last challenge is still making me feel like I’m going crazy. I saved Kayla from those creeps who were gunning for her like some sort of wannabe hero. But I don’t regret it.
I realised they were after her when she got out of the river. She didn’t realise until she was on the second part of the challenge.
I wanted to let her deal with it herself because the last time I tried to be helpful she flipped out on me. I was also dead set on ignoring her for the entire semester or maybe my whole entire life.
She is infuriating and she makes me want to punch a wall or maybe I don’t even know take care of her or something.
But what I know for sure is that I wasn’t going to let her deal with all of that by herself.
Besides, she had a look on her face. A look of determination. She could have easily shifted and protected herself but she didn’t. She was dead set on making it through that challenge.
As much as I want to deny it, it made me feel something. My wolf felt something. It immediately took charge when they started hurting her. I was trying so hard to not shift, because all it wanted to do was protect her at all cost, the challenge be dammed.
The fact that she also stayed with me and didn’t leave even though she clearly wanted to win so much makes my chest tighten for some reason. She chose to save me too. And I don’t know. . .it’s just making my wolf feel on edge.
Fuck.
It’s making me feel on edge.
“Are you sure you’re up for this?”Jules asks with a frown on his face.
“I’m f*****g fine”
He shakes his head because it’s clear as day that I’m not fine.“Just.. . Be careful man.”
“I will be don’t worry. Focus on winning this thing” I clasp him on his shoulder and he gives me a nod. I understand how helpless him and Matty felt when I was hurt and they couldn’t do anything about it.
So I don’t give him another reassuring nod.
Today’s challenge is that we have to fight an Arcapy and bring its head back to where we started. Very gruesome but at least we’re allowed to shift.
An Arcapy is a beast that dwells in caves just outside of our campus. It looks like a combination of different animals, with sharp claws and scales covering its body. It has horns, fangs, and a menacing, wild look. We have to hunt it, kill it and then bring back it’s head.
It would be simple enough if they weren’t so fierce about protecting their territory. I’m excited for the hunt and I can’t wait to see how my little lucky charm handles this one.
“It’s go time. I hope you motherfuckers are ready” says Matty flexing his muscles “and you” he points at me “don’t go saving that hot Alpha girl of yours. Again”
“f**k off” I glare at him. My friends have been giving me s**t ever since the time I was told I was fine. Even though my mom told me not to worry about losing I feel the pressure to win. I feel as though if I lose I’ll be embarrassing her and my pack. Like how can they trust me to protect them if I can’t even make it through something as simple as these challenges. I won last year because I was completely focused on being the best leader for my pack and also on being the best in soccer. Of course that only resulted in getting a lot of people to notice me.
More than they did before.
People start filling out to the starting line.
Damn. I didn’t realise how many people were left. Seems like only a few people made it to the second challenge. In all the people that made it, there is only one person who makes my heat beat a little faster. She is wearing black leggings and a very tight long sleeve cropped top and her hair is in a bun. She looks good. Really good. I don’t think anyone could ever look this good when they are about to go head to head with fucken beast. Only her. Looking at her makes me think about what she did when she was giving me that flower. It was dirty and the hottest thing someone has done to me in the past few months.
Shit, getting a boner right now would not be ideal.
But her cold lips.. .
The signal sounds, taking me out of my thoughts. We are not allowed to assist each other with this challenge and even though the are not many cameras covering the caves it’s better to not test what they’ll do if we break that rule.
We all sprint to the direction of the caves, some of us already shifting. I won’t be shifting anytime soon though because I want to conceive power, the sooner I kill that thing the sooner I can be done with all this s**t.
Even though it is smart to track the Arcapy in wolf form because of the heightened sense of smell. Arcapys are ferocious and they like their peace. If you go sniffing in their territory you’ll get mould before the rescue team even thinks of saving you. I look around me seeing if anyone is following me but everyone seems to have their own strategies for how to deal with this and I have to stick with mine. I can’t go being a hero anymore. Even as I tell myself this I can’t help but chance a look around me to see where Kayla is. She is messing with my head and I can feel that my wolf is more than excited to get a glimpse of her again. Or even get a repeat of what happened yesterday.
Fuck in need to focus.
I lose track of time as I veer off trails and look in the caves furthest from our campus. The darkness of the night makes it a little easy so I’m not complaining yet. My guess is that’s where an animal like an Arcapy would live. Matty and Jules have been close by. They shifted when the we started so I can pick up their scent easily.I think they are keeping an eye on me after what happened to Kayla yesterday. Even if we’re in a competition I’m still their Alpha and they are in charge of making sure no one tries to hurt me in my way.
An Arcapy would want to be Away from the noise and far enough from running trails that it can hunt without being disturbed or seen. So far every cave I’ve searched has been a bust but the one I’ve currently going to seems promising. I walk up to it making sure I’m light on my feet. When I’m close enough I scent the disgusting smell it emits.
It’s go time.
I leap then shift midair. My senses immediately get heightened as I prowl through the night, my keen sense of smell leading me to the entrance of a dark and foreboding cave. When I get inside I can immediately sense the presence of the Arcapy. It probably already heard me coming and is ready for me.
As my wolf ventures deeper into the cave, his keen eyes adjusted to the darkness, allowing me to pick up the faint sounds of the Arcapy's movements. This will be difficult judging by the skeletal remains lying around, it’s seems it’s been a while since it’s last meal.
This is about to get interesting.
