As I got ready to go to school, I received a text from an anonymous number. It’s area code was from my county, but otherwise I didn’t recognize it. I just ignored it until I was ready to leave the door. As usual, I put on a grey shirt with dark grey ripped jeans. I put on my hoodie that had writing on it that said “Senpai” on it with a pink behind it to make it stand out more. The senpai was a bit faded since this was an old hoodie, I put on my black combat boots and pulled my long platinum hair into a ponytail. As I was about to exit the door, I checked my phone finally and had gotten another message from the same number.
“Hey, this is Blaze. I asked Aygul to give me your number. I’ll be picking you up today for school. I hope you don’t mind. Aygul said she had some family business to take care of so she won’t be at school today.”
I began to read the second message when I heard a honk of a vehicle. I opened the door, and saw a grey Dodge Charger parked in the driveway, in the driver’s seat was none other than Blaze. I tossed my phone in my bookbag and sighed to myself.
“Yeah, of course he’s picking me up...fucking thanks Aygul.” I muttered to myself. I proceeded out my door and got in the passenger side of Blaze’s Charger. I put my bookbag on my lap and put on my seat belt. I held my bookbag to my chest, somewhat anxious without Aygul by my side.
“So, Liliana. I figured this would be a good time to get to know you better.” Blaze smiled warmly as he turned around in the long driveway. Turning to go back down it and head to the street.
“So, tell me about yourself.”
I sighed a little, still feeling anxious. But I spoke softly despite not wanting to socialize. “Well, I’m the only child of my mother. I have three older siblings, who live in the UK. They’re my half siblings because they’re my father’s offspring. My parents are never home when I am, because they always work odd hours. But when I was little, they raised me and took care of me like I was their pride and joy. They noticed I was a fast learner and taught me many things about the world of science. So I'm a firm believer in science...or at least I was before the other night or so.” I looked down at my bookbag more. My bangs pushed past my ear and fell in front of my face. Blaze must have noticed, and stopped at a red light before pushing back the strands of hair.
“I understand this is a lot to take in, and I can’t begin to imagine how much your world has been turned upside down by this...but I believe that this will begin to get easier on you as time goes by and the more is explained to you.” he smiled gently at me as to reassure me that things will be alright. I felt my cheeks get a little hot and he must have noticed this too. I heard him chuckle under his breath, he gently patted me on the head.
“I know friends normally don’t say this to one another, but you’re cute when you blush.” and of course, my only response was to blush more and just turn my head towards the window. He simply just chuckled again, probably finding even this response “cute” as well.
…
As usual, it took awhile to get to school from my home. My home is one of the houses on the outskirts compared to the small town of Grimhaven. Me and Blaze both had remained silent up until this point now. He sighed, and pulled over. We were almost at the school, I looked over at him from the window I had been daydreaming out of.
“You look so lost looking out the window. Something wrong?” Blaze looked at me with genuine concern. I shook my head.
“Sorry, I was just thinking about some memories from when I was young. Just...wondering how it would be possible for things like magic let alone other races came to fruition. I was raised on the principles of science, so...to think they’re some other possibly Godly beings who came to create these evaluations of man with powers of unimaginability...it’s just, I can’t wrap my head around it.” I sighed.
Blaze grinned at me a little. “I have an idea then. As you know, my mother is the principal of the High School and my father is the mayor. Due to this and the fact that my father is also an Alpha and my mother is our Luna, we have a secret library on the knowledge about werewolf lycanthropy. We have knowledge on other types of lycanthropy, druids, vampires, a little knowledge on demons and angels. I’ve already informed my parents that I’ve stumbled across my mate and she happens to be a human. They’ve given me the go ahead to teach you in secret about the knowledge of the supernatural world, if you wish to be taught of course. And will promise to never ever tell anyone you are being taught this stuff.”
I looked at him astonished, but my eyes sparkled at the knowledge I could gain and come to understand. It would help greatly if I could get over the hurtle of my upbringing knowledge, especially considering all I can do is fight with myself about everything. And hopefully, with this knowledge, I can come to understand my world just a little more. I nodded at Blaze.
“I agree to learn about the supernatural world, and I won’t tell another soul about this.”
Blaze continued to grin, but grinned just a little more mischievously. “Then, your first lesson starts today.” He turned the car around suddenly and started driving towards the outskirts. I looked at him bewildered.
“Wait, but what about school???” I blurted to him. He just shrugged at me.
“My mom doesn’t care if I show up as long as I have good enough grades. She understands sometimes I need to study the supernatural world and its politics along with practice on improving my strength and charisma. She knows that you're my mate, and she has apparently kept a close eye on you since you’ve started school at Grimhaven. She noticed you were one of the top students in our high school but that also you had a hard time making friends.” he stated bluntly.
I guess that’s why he wasn’t always at school. To be honest, I didn’t even know I was one of the top students of the high school. I know I studied hard and sometimes relentlessly, especially to gain the most knowledge possible on every topic I’m given...I guess you can say I’m always knowledge hungry, in a way. But the top student and monitored by the principle like that. What if she knew I’d Blaze’s mate and that’s why? I felt an embarrassing blush creep on my cheeks as I sat quietly in my seat. Staring back out the passenger window, lost to my thoughts.
