Chapter 26Judith Garner was still angry at Nelson for leading the police to her and making sure she was jailed with no bond and tried for wire fraud.
She was still thanking her lucky stars for getting off that rap and the failure to appear in the Hesterberg case. She certainly couldn't thank Duane. He used her to get what he wanted, Sydney Jones.
Why she believed his plan to marry Sydney was for their long-term happiness, she'd never know. Sitting in jail awaiting trial for months and being scared to death of a lengthy prison sentence did something to her. She was no longer a gullible wretch.
She and Duane had hatched a plan when he confronted her about stealing from the Jones' investment accounts. He wanted in on it, too, and more, all her money.
