“New Yorkers, the warden wants to see you,” said a corrections officer.
“What did we do now?” asked Mike.
“Did I read another banned book?” asked John.
“I don’t know, gentleman. But I need you all to turn around and cuff up. The warden wants to talk to you boys,” said another veteran officer.
The two officers escorted the New Yorkers to meet with the interim warden. CUC had filed for bankruptcy, and the Homestead Correctional Facility went back to being run by the State of Florida. The prison cleaned house and fired many of the former officers. Several officers, including Officer Wooley, even served time in prison for a variety of crimes.
Warden Tom Jackson was a veteran corrections officer and was serving as the interim warden until a national search was completed.
