“All rise. The Honorable Judge Brook Muller presiding,” said the bailiff.
“Please be seated. We are here today for the sentencing of Judge Stewart Decker. A jury of your peers has found you guilty on fifteen felonies. Before I read your sentence, I wanted to give you an opportunity to address the court,” said the judge.
Stewart took the stand and said, “I wanted to apologize to the people that I have wronged. I’m sorry for what I’ve done. I’m requesting that the court show me mercy. I spent decades serving the people of Miami Dade County and the State of Florida. I know that I can make a positive contribution to society, but I’ll accept whatever punishment the court decides is appropriate.”
