Nicole sat at her desk at the Miami Post and began searching court records. She found that Stewart Decker and Kyle Smith were the toughest judges in Miami Dade County. Both judges had been sentencing outside of the guidelines. In the past year, they’d sentenced fifteen people to life sentences and sentenced outside of the guidelines in ninety percent of the cases.
These guys are ruthless, Nicole thought to herself. She sat at her desk poring through files for the next four hours. She needed to share the information with her editor.
