Chapter 037 Emilia's POV When we left the house, I had no idea what to anticipate. You didn't go to Hollowreach by chance. You didn't go there to find answers. What else could I do, though? With every night that went by, Lucian was getting farther away from me. I felt it in my bones, in the air, and in his gaze, as if he forgot me. Under the moonless sky, the trees cast long, twisted shadows as we moved through the pitch-black woods. Lucian said nothing. Too quiet. No matter what I tried to do, I couldn't alleviate the unbearable heat radiating from his skin. "You okay?" I enquired, but I didn't anticipate a serious response. He hardly gave me a look. His eyes had lost their natural warmth and had taken on a darker hue. Something colder. There was a sense that it didn't belong to him.
