Emilia’s POV
The room was so dark that I couldn’t breathe. It felt like a wet blanket pressing against my skin and wouldn’t let up. I stayed still, staring at the ceiling, but I couldn’t fall asleep. I was confused and overwhelmed by everything I remembered, feared, and witnessed.
All the shadows appeared to be alive, moving and watching for something. My heart pounded harder and harder, as if it were trying to escape from my chest. After that, I heard a whisper, so soft that it seemed to hide under the silence.
