Lucian's POV
The battle broke out suddenly. We were circling, ready for anything and then a blade appeared, moving so fast I couldn't see it. After that, a sharp pain shot through my arm. The blood ran hot and thick, falling onto the cold stone below.
I cried out and grabbed my arm, but as soon as my blood hit the ground, the atmosphere shifted. It twisted and bent like liquid, so the trees around us moved without wind. Shadows moved strangely, as if something living was moving in the dark.
I closed my eyes, feeling my heart beat so hard I thought it would burst through my chest.
