Love in disguise

Chapter 1:After summer break

lucas had barely stepped through the school gated when a familiar voice called out

"lucas where were you during summer break you just vanished as if we were not your friends,I and Kai came looking for you at your mom's coffee shop but it was locked I wonder where you went"

lucas turned around with a surprise look on his face

"you and Kai?" he said with a loud voice .

"since when did Kai start caring about me before summer break he has always been on my nerves so what changed?"

sam looked at him with a smile on his face and said "lucas if you were not my friend I would have thought you and Lucas has a secret crush on each other"

Before sam could finish his statement,lucas shot him a sharp glare and left hurridely to his assigned classroom.

As lucas walked into the classroom he noticed the seat close the window was already occupied

it was kai.

kai glanced at him for a second and pretended as if he was busy with his book,

Great!lucas whispered to himself " what a good way to start my first day after holidays,why can't he just let me be for a second, even without us meeting he already took the seat I wanted to take but to save time I will just change my seats"

while lucas was looking for a place to seat, the classroom teacher walked in.

"Good morning student since it is a new session everyone will be assigned to a new seat and it will be your seat till the session is over do you all understand"

the students answered in chorous "yes ma"

she continued with what she was saying"since everyone understands what I am saying I hope everyone gets along with their assigned seat mate"

lucas frozed when he heard his name wondering why the teacher called him first

"lucas you will be sitting with kai, your last classroom teacher told me you two don't get along properly I want both of you to sit together without any issues"

The whole class became silent for some minutes before some students started whispering

"Those two, I think this session would be fun,I think the classroom teacher doesn't know they are better off staying away from each other,I wonder how they have thesame circle of friends" They laughed quietly and continued with what the teacher was saying.

lucas stared at Kai for sometime and moved over to his seat

"don't get the wrong idea, I never wanted to sit with you anyways,I am only sitting here because the teacher said so"

kai chuckled!

"Trust me I also don't want to sit down with someone that looks like a bear"

lucas smirked

"kai I look better than you,you are not even happy you are sitting with someone this cute and brilliant unlike you that looks rigid"

the both of them were into the fight that they did not even notice sam starring at them at the back whispering to himself

"i wonder if they are lovers or enemies" he whispered while shaking his head.

The classroom teacher sighed as the noise was becoming too much

"Enough of the fun everyone let's get back to class work"

Before any of the students could answer she called their attention

"before I forget we have a competition we have to partake in and I do not want to be disappointed, so I all I ask is for you all co-operation"

the classroom became silent and confusion was all over the room until a bold student stood up to ask

"ma what's the competition all about"

the classroom teacher sighed in disbelief and replied

"are you all a student of this school,our school goes for a spelling competition every year and this class has been selected by the principal and I was appointed to pick the students who would partake in it,so what i need you all to do is to prepare yourself properly cause we still have few months left until the competition."

Sam immediately stood up

"ma I think our class is going to fail or you can as well choose Kai and Lucas to represent our class"

everyone burst into laughter!

the class was over when kelvin walked in with a basketball on his hand

"i hope I didn't miss anything," he asked sam

Sam pointed at lucas and kai

"They just took a break from arguing"

"A miracle at this point I think they are better off as husbands" Kelvin laughed

lucas sighed so loudly he was not liking the conversation at all before he could say anything, Tom who has been quiet through out the whole chaos finally spoke

"kelvin how come you are with a basketball we just resumed don't you get tires of playing"

"wow I thought you have gone dumb all through the class you have been quiet as soon as kelvin walked in you immediately started talking, tell me the truth we are all friends is there something you guys are hiding from me, first it was lucas and kai, now you and kelvin, why am I the only one being left out in the group". sam spoke in disbelief.

The classroom slowly returned to it's usual noise as students began packing their bag and preparing to leave, Lucas picked up his books quietly trying not to think much of everything that happened

"see you tomorrow" sam said before walking out of the door with others .

Lucas gave a small smile and waved at him. he walked home alone enjoying the calmness of the evening, his mind we're still filled with thought he couldn't explain.

When lucas finally reached his house, he opened the door

"I'm home" he called out.

A familiar voice from the kitchen replied "Lucas you are finally back I told you not to stay in school for too long consider your health" his mom spoke with a concerned voice.

"mom I think you should stop worrying about me and worry about yourself more by the way where is zara?"

"I think she will be in her room, go take your bath and come have your meal".

lucas was heading to the bathroom when he heard his name

"lucas, Lucas" a familiar voice screamed his name ......
