Ch. 2 The Emergency and The Angel in blue

_______OUTSIDE THE BURNING CLUB______ 

The fire was burning like hell and people were crying and yelling outside the club. Unfortunately, some were stuck inside and luckily, some were outside. A guy was shouting harshly at the 3 big bouncers, who were holding him back. "Let me go! You bastards! My Agnett is inside and I have to save her! You can't stop me! Let me go!!!" He was all angry and mad like lion. 

"I am telling you if something happen to her! I won't spare anyone!" He roared as he punched a guy behind him. They both were about to fight when the girl, who was standing beside him stopped him. "Kayden please calm down. She'll be fine. Getting angry is not the solution and you know that too. Please she's a fighter, she's fine." The girl told him and held a hand against his chest. 

"Where is the Manager!! How the heck fire can broke out this badly when people were inside!" He shouted and searched for him like a mad lion.

A car stopped at the roadside and a man in grey suit stepped outside. "This son of a b***h must be the Hansel Glover!" Kayden roared and rushed to him pinning him to the car. "You better save the people Inside the club or I'll make your company and your business extinct from this earth!" Kayden sneered at him in pure rage, holding him by the collar, looking at him with bloodshot eyes. He shivered in fear. "Listen Mr. We have already called the police and fire department. They'll be here by now. It's no one's fault!" Hansel took Kayden's hand off from his collars and went to the manager. The manager seemed to be as shock as everyone. 

Kayden threw daggers at them. "I'll kill both of them if something happen to my Agnett! I won't be able to forgive myself ever. It was my fault because I lost her! And it was all of your fault because you people didn't have good security!" Kayden cried in frustration and banged the car with his fist. Eve came following him and cried harder. "Kayden, it's not your fault. It was none of ours fault. Please calm down.. she'll be fine. I know." Eva said sobbing hard and then Kayden realized, she was with him. She was suffering too.

"I am really sorry Eva. I knw she'll be fine." He hugged her tight and caressed her head. He had to do something and first thing to do is call their parents. He called Eva's and his, both of their parents were relieved that they were fine but when knew Agnett was still inside they got depressed. "How will I face Aunty Neena and Uncle Sabestian? They won't trust me again. I am the reason Agnett is still inside. How can I tell them about it...." Kayden was all broken and rubbed his face. "It's important we have to tell them." Eva said and he called them.

"Hello? Oh god Kayden! Why none of you picking up the calls??!!! At least tell Agnett to take my calls!" Mrs. Raymond's panicked voice broke out from the other side. "Aunty Neena, please sit somewhere first." Kayden replied too quietly and Neena's brows knitted.

"What's wrong Kayden? Tell me now!" Neena felt that something was really wrong. "When we were inside the club, a fire broke down from somewhere..." Dead silence.

"Some came outside but most of them stuck inside.." He breathed shakily and tears never stopped coming from his eyes. "...I lost Agnett in the crowd and she's.... she's inside." Neena's heart stopped and she felt weak. 

"Is this some joke Kayden! If it is then you'll get beaten by me!" She yelled through the phone not believing what he just said.

"It's the truth Aunty. I am not joking I am sor- beep beep." He stared at phone in more horror. Eva looked at him and guessed it. "She must be driving here and I think she must be worried sick." Eva said more upsetting and held his hand.

"FIRE DEPARTMENT IS HERE! STEP ASIDE!" Someone shouted loudly and police constables started to take people away. Eva and Kayden dragged away too even though Kayden almost beaten him. "Call uncle Sabestian Kayden. He must know too." He called him and told everything fearfully but to his surprise he told him to take care of both the ladies. He said that he'll come with the private Ambulance. Kayden hang up and a car stopped by.

"Are you both fine?!" Neena came and hugged both of them. "My Agnett! She's inside please help us!" She suddenly went to one of the fireman who assured her and she cried hard. "We are doing our best ma'am. We'll save your daughter."

Kayden took her away from crowd and made her sit. He gave her a water bottle and stared at her in confusion. "You aren't going to slap me Aunt?" He looked down in shame and she watched him in pure disbelief. "Why ?! Kayden no! It's not your fault! None of us were ready for this. I am very angry because my only daughter is at the edge of death but...you didn't do it on purpose dear. Don't blame yourself." She stood up and told him gently caressing his head. He couldn't hold anymore and hugged her tight. "Nothing will happen to her I promise you." He mumbled and he went back to search Agnett on entrance. 

Please stay safe Agnett. I can't loose you. We can't loose you.

________FIRE STATION, BROOKLYN_______

"This is an emergency! A huge fire broke down in area BK 37, Glover night club, Brooklyn! I repeat this is an emergency! area BK37, Glover night club! situation is really bad we need help as soon as possible! I repeat send Fire trucks and firefighters as soon as possible! Over!"

A Call from NYPD bursted from the fire station communication radio speaker. My heart sank, again. Oh God. I have been working in this job for past 5 years, but still, it makes my heart pain and Shiver my bones whenever I hear about a fire breaking somewhere. Even though it is my job to save people, but it hurts even more if any of us can't save even a single person who stuck inside the flames. Fire, holds nightmares.

"Fighters! We have really bad situation this time among the previous ones! The fire has been broke in crowdy place nearly 10 minutes ago! there were more than 600 people inside the club including staff and other members during the time. we got to save people as much we can." The chief executive officer of Fire department, Marcus White, shouted before all the Department. 

"Lieutenant Ben! Take 3 fire trucks, two sections of S1 Firefighters and backup team, Now!" Chief shouted and gave the orders one by one.

"Yes Sir!" Ben the second hierarchy Lieutenant of our department, he obliged with full force and attention and went to ready the team.

"Captain Caleb! Call the medical department and take 4 AMBULANCES, with best medical team with you. Talk to the hospital management and Register the emergency wards in advance for the survivors!" 

"Copy Sir!" Caleb is the supervision Captain who manages the health queries and medical management for the department mostly. But when needed, he takes charge of the crew really well.

"Captain Raven! Take full A section firefighters with you, 2 Equipment Trucks and 3 Fire engines with you! Supervise the Firefighters!" He Ordered me and I stood with my chest high to obey. "Copy Sir!" I replied and Rushed to make arrangements for the war. Between the deaths, and Us.

"Good luck everyone! Stay safe!" We heard him dismissing the Orders and everyone got into work. I went and put on the safety uniform, operate the radio communicator, that were attached inside out suits and yelled at the fire fighters to hurry up. I called for Fred and Aiden to ready up the fire engines and ladders. I arranged the crane also if in worse crises we need it. Caleb already registered emergency wards and medical in advance, for the patients. Ben was already gone to the occurrence area. 

"Stay safe Buddy!" I hand hugged Caleb and we wished good luck to each other. "You too Raven! Don't get yourself killed!" He warned in full concern and tapped my shoulder. "Let's get it!" And we headed to the scene. It took her almost 15 minutes to reach the area in full speed. We can't drive fast because we get loads of equipment and heavy metals. 

___________OCCURANCE SCENE___________

I got out of the truck and saw loads of people were crying and shouting for their loved ones. What my attention got was a guy, who has been held by 3 guys and he was shouting to the firemen to save someone. 

"George! Get the nozzle and wash all over the outer area of the club! Extinguish all the entrances, windows and send firemen inside!" I shouted and took another nozzle, unbolted the water supply and threw the liquid to the most possible areas. As Ben was already here before he managed to take at least 20 to 36 people out of danger. I glanced at the people around me, I saw them and my vision starts to blur off. They were crying and calling, pushing the police officers aside to get through them. 

"AMBULANCES ARE HERE!" One of our Firemen shouted and the sufferers were taken to the medical team. They were badly injured. Situation, is going out of hands.

"Captain Raven! The path from the 7th floor is blocked by the broken stairs and other things! Manager told me that the emergency store kitchen is on the 2nd floor but most of the kitchen supplies are on the 7th and 8th floor's store rooms! I am afraid there'll be LPG cylinders and other alcoholic beverages!" Oh no! This will make it worse!! The building is 20 story and if combustible material burst up! It's gonna fall in two pieces! Wtf!

"Liam! I am Sending fireman to the 7th and 8th floors! Lots of people would be stuck there! I have arranged Crane for more critical crises! You keep your eyes open and ask the manager for other critical areas inside the Club!" I yelled through the radio talkie, understanding the words he got on his business back. "Aiden! Fred! Send the firefighters to the 8th floor first! They'll search for the combustible material and take out the people outside! Aiden! It's your responsibility to transfer them to the ground floor if the path Inside the building would still be blocked by then, if not inform Lieutenant Ben by then, so he'll get them out! Fred! Keep the crane as stable as you can and supply the equipments to the fireman!" I told Aiden and Fred and they started off the engine.

I sent 20 firemen with loads of extinguishers and extra long nozzles. I saw them getting high up slowly and stoping at the window of 7th floor, which they ceased from the fire and entered inside. I noticed that the guy who was yelling and beating the air before, had became quite now, like he already gave up. I saw him crying and talking on phone, the girl beside him was carrying too but she was doing her best to keep him calm. It's actually out of his hand...and I felt him. 

"This is S1 fighter Liam! We Got the combustible material , Captain Raven! We are lucky that the air inside the freezing room was very low at the time that when sprinklers started, it kind of iced the room a little bit. When fire started, thin layer of ice started to melt and kept the area wet, so fire didn't catch it. Still if temperature would have gone more high or we would be late even for 15 minutes, the LPG cylinder must have bursted because continuous booming vibration almost take it down and alcoholic beverages might have ignited the fire!" My heart skipped a beat when I heard Aiden's voice but relieved soon too. 

We can't handle more damage then this. People must be saved no matter what! I felt my knees getting weak by every passing minute and head was spinning.

Raven! You have got to be strong! Don't let your guilt and fear ruin so many lives, who are in danger.

"Captain Raven! This is S1 fighter Liam! We have cleared the area up to the 7th and 8th floor! All danger is in the lower floors now! I presume 1st to 4th, Specially the 2nd floor!" I heard Liam from the communicator and I got more alert. 

"How many survivors have we gotten outside?!" I yelled through the truck radio and Got reply from the Lieutenant. "As much by the percentage of people, we saved almost 70% of the people including the one who were already out before. We got 30% more to save and most of them are stuck in 3rd and 1st floor. 2nd floor seem almost empty!"

"Okay Fighters! This is Captain Raven! We have got to save 30% more people! Most of them are stuck on 3rd floor and 2nd floor has almost checked out. S1 fighters are taking care of ground floor and Crane crew as well as fire engines are taking care of the top floors! Situation is still not under control so don't loose anyone!" I informed everyone through the radio speaker and get back to help the other fighters, taking the injured outside.

"Please! Listen ! I heard 2nd floor is almost empty, it can't be because I lost my friend in that floor! Please save her I am begging you! If something happen to her I'll die without her! Please! Re-check the 2nd floor! She must be definitely there!" I felt my hand touched by two hands that were of the same guy who was beating the air before. They were shivering and I saw, pure regret and hurt in his teary eyes. 

"Please save him Sir, we were on second floor where the DJ is. Please have a look there again, she must be there 100 %" the girl beside him pleaded me. "Please! Save my Agnett!" Oh so that's her name.  

"Sir, we are doing our best! I'll go myself and recheck the second floor. Please have faith! Your friend is fine, trust me!" I said determined to save her and assured them to be calm. I will go and check that floor by myself. That part is more dangerous, Liam told. It must be because the DJ and all the electric gadgets, and...loads of liquor. No....

"She is wearing a blue dress and a pearl bracelet, by the way. Maybe this will help you to find her easily." The girl said and I nodded. She mistook me as a guy.

"Ben! This is Dee! I am taking 2 fireman with myself and going to re-check the second floor! I m afraid there'll be more survivors on that floor! If any crises happen inform me and take the leads of A3 fireman. S1 and A2 sections are rescuing the top floors. If there are any other orders please inform me after I re-check the 2bd floor!" I contacted Ben through the radio communicator and he said to be careful because of the most dangerous floor. I took safety shield and two fighters grabbed the big extinguishers. We headed inside.

I heard crackling of fire Nd heavy smoke all over the place. We could barely figure out each other so we sticked together. When we reached the 2nd floor it literally seemed all empty. I told both of them to search the different areas in the second main hall. I searched through the rooms, VIP section, bar table and men/women restrooms but she wasn't there. I searched the lounges and DJ controlling room, not there also. I searched every single corner in my might. 

"Captain, I think Liam was right, this floor is empty. We should hurry back outside before fire envelope the remaining parts. We have ceased the most part by the fire extinguisher but I don't think so danger is over."one of the fireman told me and I almost cried out of frustration. Where the hell are you Agnett!!! Please don't get yourself killed! I'll save you! I remembered the look his friend was giving, it was fear. I am not going to let anything happen to her!

"She IS HERE! CHECK MORE! SHE f*****g MUST BE HERE!" I shouted and they hurriedly went back to check. Somewhere near the DJ podium, beneath the small stairs, something shiny and blue. I inspected more closely and it was a hand! I ran like s**t and went closer to the body, it was a pearl bracelet. It's her! I dragged her out of the black and checked her pulses and breathing. She's alive! I sigh in relief and I don't know why I just pulled her closer and hugged her by the head. "Oh god! You are safe!" I murmured in her ear and glanced at her face.

Ashes marks on her Milky skin, long hairs sprawled all over the floor around her, full lips and unconscious. What the hell am I thinking! Suddenly, I heard loud creaking sound and glanced upward....the flaming speaker was falling down. Oh no! I dragged her doubling my strength more away before it touch her and finally we both were fine. It made a huge boom sound and fire bursted out from it. I protected us by the shield. That was close!

"Captain Raven! You fine!? We heard very loud boom?!" The boys yelled in the foggy smoke, trying to reach me. "I got her! We're here boys! Let's get outta here! She was hidden by the DJ podium and tables that's why no one found her!" I called for boys and they helped me to make her stand up so we can take her out by shoulders. In safety uniforms it's almost impossible to carry her by one person. We three took her outside and directly went to the ambulance. 

Loads of patients were transferred to the ANGEL WALK HOSPITAL, so we had enough doctors and nurses to take care of her. I told one of the boy to inform patient's friends, pointing at them and I took Agnett by her waist, leading to the carrying bed. They checked her pulses and searched for injuries, her friends appeared and breathed in relief. "Oh my God! Agnett! I am sorry! I am really sorry! Forgive me for leaving you! Punch you butthead as much you want please don't die! No!" The guy held her tight in his arms and cried his heart out. "I'll go and call aunty Neena." The girl went away and reappeared with a lady. "My Agnett! My dear! Oh god my baby! You are fine. Everyone is here your mom is here! You are fine. Oh thank God nothing happened to you." She was around her 40s, came and hugged her daughter soo tight it almost made my cry out of jealousy. She's lucky. 

"She's fine. She got some minor injuries and burning wounds at some parts of the body. We can't figure out much right now but I can say she sprained her arm badly so it has to be taken care of. Your friend is lucky, this fighter got her on time." The nurse explained and told about the injuries, checking her blood pressure. But I just.... stared at her beautiful face. She was looking like Angel in Blue. Who fell from the heaven. 

Why is it paining me, seeing her like this?

"Oh Dear! Thankyou soo much for Saving my baby's life. She's too important to me. You can ask anything from me you deserve best. Come here." The laid her back safely and came towards me. She held my hands and I felt the same familiar warmth. She said all soo lovingly and then hugged me as tight she hugged her. I closed my eyes. "Thank you so much Honey. God bless you." She said tapping my back and pulled away.

"Oh my God! Thankyou soo much sir! You have no idea how much she mean to me! You saved my life!" The guy came in rush and hugged me so tight, pulling to him, I could smell happiness from him. I smiled and patted his back in assurance. "She's fine Sir, don't worry. Your friend is a fighter." I said to him still tapping his back as he sobbed. It's fine. 

He pulled away and took my hands in his."I'll never forget your bravery! I'll do anything you ask for you just have me back my heartbeat!" He said all crying in happiness and The girl came by and rubbed his back. "Kayden, she's fine. She's all fine. Don't cry. Thankyou so much sir. We are indebted to you. Thankyou soo much." Girl thanked me and I nodded my head from the uniform mask. 

So, The guy's name is Kayden. 

"It's our job to save people who are in danger. You don't have to thank me. I feel as happy as you people when we save them. Take care of her and yourselves." I told them and glanced at her. Media wasn't here so maybe the news will be out in morning. "We did, her father already called a private Ambulance for her to take her hospital. He'll be here soon enough with it. He is the top Surgeon in Angel walk Hospital, so he got it all the way." He told me and nodded. 

"I have to go. My crew members needs me." I told them to be careful and started to walk away. "By the way..." I took my uniform mask off and faced them. "....I am not Sir. Call me Dee." I winked at the girl and she blushed in embarrassment, meanwhile Kayden's jaw almost dropped to the floor. "You... you're a woman." He said all unable to believe what he just saw. They glanced at the lady but she was already inside the current Ambulance taking care of her daughter. She was still unconscious.

Kayden looked at me in total embarrassment.

"I know. Tattoos and boy haircut is not what people are very habitual of. Specially for women." I chuckled and put on my mask again, walking away, took a glance at the Angel who was laying flawlessly on the bed. 

She's just something. I don't know. 

When I went back everything was in under-control. Almost, all the fire was ceased and the club had became an abandoned building. "Is everything under control now, Ben?" I communicated through the radio and helped the crew to take away the extra equipments back to the trucks. "Yes everything is fine now, Dee. Even though we gave out best but 3% people died in the crowd run and 10% people died in fire, approx 70." Ben informed me over the situation and I felt my heart sank. More than 70 people...

"Okay Ben. I'll take the backup fire truck and....engines back to station. Liam will take S1 fighters back to the station." I said and he said okay. My head was spinning and back was aching bad suddenly. "You doesn't sound good Dee. Stay where you are I m coming!" He said and I almost give up on standing. He appeared by my side and took my by shoulder. "Ouch!" I winced in pain. "You are injured Dee! We'll take care of the rest. Let's take you back to station and get checked up." He said all concerned, still holding me. 

"No Ben, I am fine really! Let me get back to work nothing is wrong. I am not a kid." I protested but he didn't leave me at all. "You aren't kid , badass Queen. But you do get stubborn like kid sometimes. Now shut up and let's go." He shushed me up and headed to one of the trucks. He Ordered assistant captain to clear up the mess and took his safety mask. "You have because....too... heavy! What the hell you eat?!" He said almost throwing me on the seat.

"Seriously Ben! You are overreacting. I m totally fine. It's must be a little sprain or something. I am really fine. You know me! I can handle this." I kept talking breathing hard, my back was actually paining a lot but It was just like normal days. We get scratches and wounds all time. It was nothing a big deal.

Ben has been like a big brother to me since the day I got into the job. Even though I act all tough and mighty, he does know if I am sad or bad, or even mad. I have really bad anger issues and he's like always come up and make me laugh so hard that my boiling head vapours up. Even though he's Lieutenant, he never let anyone to call him all sir and etc. Except the fighting subordinates, because they just don't call him by name. They prefer Sir. He just tell everyone to call him Ben. Posts weren't too important for him, but working in team and having best understanding among the crew members. That's what I really like about him. He choose to have equality among everyone and him.

"If you keep talking then trust me you won't find your yogurt in our crew refrigerator and also, nowhere else." He really do know how to shut me up. "You got it jerk!" I slapped his arm and he laughed. 

                   "By the way I got to know by the Police officers that the fire broke out from the liquor godown, which was right behind the building and was at the height of 2nd floor. That's why second floor was damaged most." Ben started off the engine and told me about the situation on the way. When I Heard 2nd floor, my mind drifted to her again. She was in most danger, but she was all hidden and away.

How can someone look so Angelic and perfect in f*****g crisis!! I couldn't restrained myself from thinking About her and her lips, oh god!! Stop it DEE! It's like a f*****g strong pull! Because I...I felt weird with her. Oh cm on! Raven! You are injured maybe that's you loosing your mind! Yes! I am crazy! This girl!

"Dee! You fine?!" I Heard Ben calling me loudly checking me if I became unconscious. "We are almost to the hospital, don't worry badass Queen. You gonna be fine. Also doctors of our department are checking our crews so don't worry. We got it!" He said smiling a bit and I felt soo light knowing our crew members are fine. They're like my family, and loosing one feels like loosing everything. Everyone is important, very precious.

"You got me Angel walk Hospital? I mean there are more why this?" No one really wants me to forget about her, right?

"It's because chief ordered us to register in this hospital only. You know that it's best for big crises also they got soo nice and updated facilities for the patients. I think Caleb was right suggesting it to Chief." He explained and I just stayed still, not replying. "We are here. Let's get you out." He helped me out of the truck and took me inside. A male nurse came by helping me to take to the ward, as Ben stayed to fill the information. Even though it was registered, giving name was important. The nurse guided me forward and I watched the hospital's white ceilings and blue, green curtains. I hate hospitals.

I thought of her again, she isn't leaving my head. It's not like I'll see her in such a huge hospital? Yes! You won't see her in such a crowd. Be calm. The nurse took me inside the ward where 5 others were also laying, some slept and some getting examined. Each bed was parted with big curtain to keep privacy. I took off my shoes and uniform, setting it aside I breathed in relief and set my hairs with my fingers. Better.

"Are you hurt handsome boy?" I heard a crooked voice from beside my bed. An old lady was half laying on the bed giving my her dull and wrinkled smile. She was wearing a hospital gown, had a drip attached to her arm and was casually reading book named "The keeper of the stable". I glanced at her raising a eyebrow and rolled up my t-shirt sleeves.

"Kind of. I am used to these little scratches. I might have sprained my shoulder a bit, it's hurting a little. How wonder, such a beautiful lady like you doing here?" I sat in front of her by the side of my bed and gave her a wink, which made her red. "Oh cm on! I am too old to flirt with honey. But by the looks you got...oh my! My husband would be really jealous!" She said and we both chuckled. "I am here because of low blood pressure and heart strokes. You know old people going through s**t!" She laughed but I felt bad for her.

"I told my doctor to not keep my away in different room because I can't be alone. When I am around people, kids and youngsters like you I feel more lively and less I'll, but if I stay alone I might definitely loose my mind and thn another illness will add in my last years!" She said chuckling and threw her free hand in the air.

     She was actually beautiful. Pale and wrinkled skin, hooded blue eyes, bushy and thick white hairs and a gorgeous thin line smile on her face and yes! Cute toothless laughter! 

"You know what? You'll be fine and you gonna live more hundred years! You can have me anytime you want if you want fun, I am a real gentleman." I teased her in return she laughed and started to cough a little. "You shouldn't be up all time. Take rest. You can read the book in morning." I told her taking her book away and she shook her head but obeyed and laid down.

"Yeah. It's also been 1 hours since I have been reading. Why no one is here to check your injury? This hospital's doctors and nurses are so useless sometimes! Aye Nurse! Tell your doctor to get his ass here! How can you people be so careless when patient need to be examined?!" She yelled at the nurse, half getting up. Meanwhile the nurse nodded and hurried outside in embarrassment. This lady rules this hospital! What a crazy woman!?

Giving her a glare she looked at me and softened her eyes and smiled. I laughed and went back to my bed. "You haven't told me your name?" She suddenly asked in the silence. "Raven. My name is Raven. Yours?" I replied and copied the question. "Call me Flora honey. You got such a beautiful name. Isn't that a-." She said in her raspy voice but I cut her off. "You too."  Soon enough Ben showed up with the doctor.

"Looks like you got a company Mrs. Hamilton." Doctor said to her and she rolled her eyes. "what took you so long to get your ass here! And ohh! Another handsome boy!" She said in all confidence, looking at both of them, I almost laughed on his face. "Well sorry to get my ass here late, Flora." He replied laughing. He was in his early 40s, handsome and was looking kind familiar to me.

"So Miss. Lorenzo, I am Dr. Sabestian, let me have a look." He said nodding at my side and examined me. He checked my pulses and injuries. "Looks like she got a minor dislocation in her shoulder, and her blood pressure is too high. Did you get hit by something during the rescue?" He said and stood up and told Ben to get the medicines. I thought back and then it hit me. "I was trying to save someone when I have to take both of us out away in a leap, and I was holding her. I fell hard on floor holding her and my shoulder bent down too much. Maybe then I must have get injured." I told him every detail so that if there will be complications he'll be able to figure out easily.

"Wear supporting braces for few weeks and take enough rest. You'll be fine." He said as he hanged the stethoscope around her neck.

"Before you ask, Ben is fine and his wounds has been dressed up well. He didn't get any internal injury so it's good. Don't worry." He said smiling and sat on the chair beside the bed. Flora was already asleep and snoring loudly. "Thank you." I said to him and he tapped my shoulders gently.

"Don't mention. Have you been taking enough sleep? I know it's not easy but I do understand you because you have night shift job and I had to deal with same situations.
