Chapter 1: Shattered Dreams
Sophie's world crumbled the day her parents' screams echoed through their once-happy home. She was only 14 years old, but the memory of that fateful night would haunt her forever. Her parents, once inseparable, now stood on opposite sides of the living room, their faces twisted in anger. "You're leaving?" her mother spat, tears streaming down her face. "I have to, Rachel. I can't take this anymore," her father replied, his voice laced with frustration. Sophie's heart sank. What did they mean? Were they really leaving each other? The argument escalated, with her father storming out of the house, slamming the door behind him. The silence that followed was deafening. Sophie's mother collapsed onto the couch, sobbing uncontrollably. Sophie felt paralyzed, unsure how to comfort her. In the days that followed, Sophie's parents' divorce proceedings unfolded like a nightmare. The fights, the lawyers, the court dates – it was a never-ending cycle of pain. Her father moved out, and Sophie's mother struggled to cope, drowning her sorrows in wine and tears. Sophie felt lost, abandoned, and forgotten. "Why did Dad leave?" Sophie asked her mother one night, her voice trembling. Her mother's eyes filled with tears. "He said he needed space, sweetie. But I know he loves you. He just doesn't love me anymore." Sophie's heart shattered into a million pieces. How could her father leave? Didn't he love her enough to stay? The questions swirled in her mind like a toxic storm, poisoning her thoughts. As the months passed, Sophie withdrew into herself. School became a blur, friends felt like strangers, and her mother's attempts to reassure her only made things worse. Sophie's depression crept in like a thief, stealing her joy, her laughter, and her sense of self. She felt unbroken, shattered into fragments of a girl she no longer recognized. Little did Sophie know, this was only the beginning of her journey – one that would test her resilience, force her to confront her demons, and ultimately, lead her to discover the unbreakable spirit within. --- Sophie wandered through the school hallways, feeling invisible. Her parents' divorce had shattered her sense of identity. She no longer knew who she was or where she belonged. Her friends tried to be supportive, but Sophie pushed them away. She couldn't bear their sympathetic gazes or hollow reassurances. Mia, her best friend since childhood, refused to give up. "Sophie, talk to me," Mia pleaded during lunch. "What's going on?" Sophie shrugged, avoiding eye contact. "Nothing, Mia. Just leave me alone." Mia's expression softened. "I'm not leaving you, Soph. You're my rock, my partner in crime. We'll get through this together." Sophie's defenses cracked slightly. Maybe Mia could understand. "My mom's a mess," Sophie confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "Dad's gone, and I feel so alone." Mia wrapped her arms around Sophie. "You're not alone, Soph. I'm here. We'll face this together." For the first time in weeks, Sophie felt a glimmer of hope. But as the days passed, Sophie's struggles intensified. Her grades plummeted, and her mother's drinking worsened. One night, Sophie discovered her mother passed out on the couch, surrounded by empty wine bottles. She got so scared ,picked up her mom's phone and called her dad``Dad hello, dad mom just passed out please cab you come, she said crying bitterly. Sophie's heart sank. She felt abandoned, again. With a newfound determination, Sophie realized she needed to take control. She rushed down to the gate, found the gateman told him about the situation and they quickly rushed her to the hospital. Luck was on her side this time, the doctor's took care of Rachel and she got better. Sophie went back home she began journaling, pouring her emotions onto the page. She remembered the past, her happy parents how did they ever turn out to be this she wondered? Tears of pain fell down from her eyes.... She couldn't hold the pain anymore realizing that she just called her dad,her mom's husband that his wife is dying and he still hasn't responded . --- What would have been the reason he didn't respond?
