CHAPTER 37 I COULDN’T LOOK back at Sam as I walked up the steps to the plane, because otherwise I might have been tempted not to go. Having to leave behind the man I once thought I’d never see again made this trip all the more painful. We’d been given a second chance, but would we get a third that would see us both return to American soil still breathing? Emmy was already strapped into her seat, looking out of the window that faced away from Black’s car. Guess she felt the same way.
