CHAPTER 38 “READY?” EMMY MOUTHED. The length of paracord I always kept in my pocket now stretched taut between my hands. I nodded, stepped back into the bathroom, and pushed the door closed, leaving just a tiny gap to see through. “Hi,” Emmy said as she cracked the cabin door open. “Oh… Rolan, right? Did I drop something when I was getting dinner?” My fists tightened around the cord, ready to loop it around his neck if the need arose. A quick glance at the window told me it would slide down far enough to drop the body out. It was dark. Nobody would notice. “No, no. I was looking for an acquaintance. I must have got the wrong cabin. How is your friend?” “Oh, she ate dinner, then bleurgh.” Emmy mimed throwing up and pointed at the bathroom. “It isn’t pretty.” She opened the door wider.
