I didn’t go to Dylan's room. Instead, I went straight on my own. Why should I care about him? All he does is get under my skin, always looking for a way to irritate me. I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of my attention. I fell asleep while texting my friends, but a sudden, sharp noise startled me awake. It was the unmistakable sound of something breaking. My heart pounded in my chest as I bolted upright, nerves buzzing. I held my breath, straining to listen for any more sounds. Nothing came. I glanced at the window—still pitch black outside.
