THE LAST STAND

The atmosphere was a bit cold and hazy, since the great war between Vampires, Witches and werewolves, the land has never remained the same. The soft wind blew some cold air and stiffed Jaxon's breath as he ran through the thick woods of the forest. He heard screams coming from the outskirts of the forest as he raced towards the area. He stopped immediately he got there and he hid himself behind one of the huge forest trees. "Vampires" He smiled to himself. A young lady was being held captive by two vamps, one of them looking bald and slim and the while the other fat. They were both. ugly. "Shhhhh, you don't need to scream. I promise this would be nice and it won't hurt" the bald vamp said grinning revealing his deadly teeth. "Aahhhhhh!ahhhhhhhh!ahhhhhhh!, let me go you cowards" she screamed trying to look brave. Vampires could sense even the least atom of fear in humans, and thats their strength against them. "Hahahahaha, stop acting brave b***h or I'd make this slow and painful" the fat vamp spoke this time. "Alright, enough drama, you guys let her go and take your lives with you" Jaxon said from behind the woods as he reveals himself. Jaxon, tall muscular and very intimidating against the average looking vamps, but you need more than muscles to scare vampires except of course, if you were a werewolf. "Aish, just in time another tasty looking prey" the fat vampire holding the young lady chuckled. "Let her go, and take your lives with you" Jaxon commanded for the second time, this time he clenched his fists and was growling with rage. "I'd listen to him if i were you" a voice came from behind them. It was Selena's,15 year old pickpocket. She was hanging on one of the huge trees in the forest. Slender, athletic build, with a scar on her left ear, and a few tiny white scars on her cheeks from childhood chickenpox. "Like he said, take your lives with you, such a generous offer" she added. "I love it when my meal brags much" the bald vamp chuckled. " enough time wasting" the fat vamp groaned "Let's suck them dry, i'm hungry". "Well, come get your meal" Jaxon said with a cold smile. The fat ugly vamp lurched towards Jaxon punching him on the face, he was quite fast,Jaxon never saw it coming. "oops, you just stepped on the cold tigers tail" Selena muttered. Jaxon stood up and threw an uppercut on the fat vamp. With this the bald vamp got angry and threw the young lady who had been watching all this while,amused by the confidence,bravery and strength of this young man and the teen. She fell so hard she hit her head and slumped. "Oh, you shouldn't have done that" Jaxon growled as he charged towards the bald vamp. Meanwhile as the fight was going on Selena sat on the tree giggling at the scene. She was used to seeing things like this. She was Jaxon's best friend,as a matter of fact his only friend. They were both to each other siblings. Unlike Jaxon who was cold,quiet and reserved. Selena was jolly and full of high spirits. Always smiling, it seemed she never had been a reason to be sad in her entire life. "Arrrrgh," Jaxon screamed painfully as one of the Vamps tore into his skin with its fingers. "Here comes the finisher" Selena announced. Immediately Jaxon start growling, tearing his clothes, and then howling. The vamps fell back in fear. Jaxon's body begins to transform,he feels himself growing in size. His body becomes covered in fur, and his eyes turn yellow. He feels his teeth lengthening, and he feels his claws sharpening. He's becoming a werewolf, He stands up on his hind legs, and he lets out a howl that echoes through the forest The both vamps trembled with fear. Its had been years since a werewolf was last seen and there was something different about this one, it had a red stripe cutting across its face. Vamps even in their death would never run from a fight, not even this two vamps who are scared to death. "Y'all dead meat" Jaxon says as he began to ravage the vamps "plead for mercy" he added after he had almost torn them apart. "Please,please don't kill us please" the bald vamp pleaded. On hearing that Jaxon Charged towards them both but stopped at their trembling faces and whispered silently "run". They both ran for their lives. " You would regret this,i swear" the bald vamp yelled from afar. "Lets go" Jaxon said referring to Selena as he changed back his human form. "My clothes" he requested, with a frown on his face staring at the young lady who was laying helplessly where she had fell. "Are we leaving her here?" Selena asked throwing his clothes at him. "She would find her way back ho..back to wherever she came from". "Don't be such a jerk" Selena scolded "what if those cowards come back". "They wouldn't dare" he said eyeing her. "What if she gets attacked by animals" . "Hmm,fair point. Let's wait around on the trees in case any animal comes by so we can add it to the menu for dinner". "You are crazy, are you saying we use her as bait?" "I don't care what you call it, am hungry and wanna get home". "We are not leaving her like this Jax" as she fondly called him He stares at Selena for a minute then walks towards the lady. "What do we do with her" he say grudgingly. Jaxon tried lifting her up. The moment his hands touched her, there was a spark. "Owch! what the hell was that" Jaxon who was startled said as he drew back in shock. "What?" Selena asked "You didn't see that?" "Oh, Right" Selena stares at her for some seconds "I see it, she's beautiful". "Arrrrrrgh" Jaxon sighed as he slapped his hands on his forehead half closing his eye, he walks away from them both, looking for a place to sit. "Jax,Jax" Selena calls out. "What?" "Hey, she's awake" "Finally, so let's go" The young lady who was still dizzy stared at them both, still trying to recall what had happened. "Hey, are you OK now?" Selena asked the young lady "Yes, I guess" she replied staring at Jaxon who was busy pacing about. "She's fine,I think we can go now" Jaxon said totally ignoring the young lady. "Thank you for saving my life" the young lady spoke again, still staring at Jaxon He only nodded back at her. Selena helped her up, "Where are you headed?" Selena asked her "Uhm, I came to get some herbs" she spoke facing Selena, then turned to Jaxon "You should be careful,its not safe here in the woods" All this while Jaxon never said a word, he was getting irritated by the conversation this two ladies were having. Jaxon wanted to go. He was hungry and they haven't caught anything for dinner. It was already getting dark. "We would be on our way then" Jaxon spoke this time still not looking at the lady. "Please, can I invite you for dinner?" The young lady asked immediately. "Uhm, y-ea" Selena said turning to Jaxon and paused "No,thanks" Jaxon said coldy "Please i insist, you just saved me and i owe you" she pleaded. "Sure,we would love to have dinner with you" Selena said smiling revealing her full set of white teeth "besides Jax here is famished" Jaxon glared at her, with his eyes screaming "I'm gonna kill you" Selena kept laughing within herself and smiling on the outside. "Be my guest" the young lady smiled leading the way. Vladislav's castle... Sir Derick,Emperor Vladislav's general, second in command to emperor Vladislav the king of the vamps. Derick does all his dirty jobs and is responsible for the army. He was speaking to the vamps who had been dealt with by Jaxon. "You can't be serious" he scoffed "Sir i swear the alpha lives" the fat vamp shivered "Sir, he's not just an ordinary wolf sir"the bald vamp said trembling "he had a red stripe on his face" he added as he described with his hands "Red stripe you say?" Derick chuckled "there's no such thing like that and besides I watched the alpha died" "Sir he wa-" "Enough!" Derick signaled with his hand "now leave my sight". He dismissed them. "I'm sure those to idiots must be high on something" he said to himself as they left, "a wolf with red stripe, hahaha!" He laughed out loud No wolf had been seen for the last two decades, they were all killed during the war between witches,wolves and vamps. The witches were divided, most supported the vamps and together they destroyed all the wolf clans. The ones who didn't were never had of again, no one knew what happened to them. The vamps saw the wolves as competition. They had always protected humans from the vamps,but the vamps succeeded in making everyone believe that the wolves were monsters. Now a wolf in the woods, is that even possible, Derick pondered within himself. He personally saw to it that all the wolf clans were destroyed, following the emperor's order. "Sir, the emperor sumons you" a vampire guard who had been beside him said, but he was lost in thoughts. Emperor Vladislav was seated on his throne, humans could be seen tied on stake with their blood slowly drained out of their bodies. They had no one to protect them again. They had become food to the vamps who feed on them as they liked. Beside him was a figure holding a staff, wearing a hood and a long gown, of course it was a witch. "My lord" Derick bowed at his presence The emperor stretched his scepter towards Derick who held it and kissed it. It was a sign known only to them both. "what is this rumor going about" he asked staring at his fingers "My lord, its nothing to worry about" he said smiling "just two drunk vamps who claimed they saw a the alpha and next they said he had a red stripe,can you believe that". "Investigate on it at once" the emperor stood from his throne and walked to his inner chambers. He seemed worried to hear the news. "Vladislav, the prophecy is beginning to manifest" the witch who was with him said "Is it possible" he paused for a bit "I thought we destroyed them all" "You must find him and destroy him before he finds his other half and destroy you" "We'll see about that" he smiled and frowned at the same time. "I hope you have a plan already?" the witch asked "We have spies everywhere,finding him won't be a problem" "I just hope you are not too late" "How long will it take for the ritual to be over?" he asked "Only one ingredient is missing, and its already knocking on our door" the witch said with an evil smile He hates it when she makes him ask for answers when she could just tell him what the final ingredients was. "Spit it" "The artifact of immortality, and you shall become immortal" she chuckled with the evil look on her face "Just in time" the emperor said stretching his legs. "And we need to hurry before he finds his other half" the witch disappeared immediately after saying that. "Death would be his other half".
