A SWEET GOODNIGHT

715 Words
It's already past midnight and there's a full moon tonight. The trees outside softly sway to the cool night breeze and the wide area is nicely lit by the moonlight. "Breathtaking view, aye?" He asks as he intertwines his fingers with mine. I blush a little at this small gesture and just nod in agreement to his question. "Let's go." He says and starts moving away from the house with me following behind. We walk slowly and in silence until we finally come to a clearing on a small hill. The walk wasn't uncomfortable at all. Rather it was calming and peaceful.  In the distance I see something sticking out of the ground. As we near it, I notice that it's a tombstone. I keep walking and don't even realize that he's let go of my hand. "Here lies the body of Kyle Olsen. Died in the year two thousand and sixteen." I read out what was carved into the stone. "Yeah." He sighs.  "I'm such an idiot." He laughs and runs a hand through his hair.  "I don't think so." I say while staring at his grave. He turns to me and looks at me in a sad way. "Can I ask you something?" He starts. I turn to face him and he gazes deeply into my eyes. "Back at the house, you said you love me. Why?" I remain quiet for some time and take a step closer to him. "Because you let me see through you." I start.  "You let me see your pain and what you were going through. You protected and saved me from a lot of situations. You made me smile and cry out of joy with the little things you did. You never made me feel uncomfortable and even on our first encounter, you never showed any signs of disgust towards me. I fell in love with your smile and who you are as a ghost. And last but not least -" I stop talking and place a hand on the left side of his chest.  "I saw the romantic side to you that Chelsea never saw." I say and stare into his eyes. "Mia." He says and in a split second he kisses me like I wanted to be kissed. No one had ever kissed me like he did. Soft, moist, hot and breathy, not trying to win a battle but seeking union and closeness and the sharing of one breath, one sensation, one timeless and one passionate moment. I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks as he quickly slipped his tongue into my mouth when I took in a breath of air. Quick and electric then firmer and more determined, more curious about the heat that lay within, seeking to chase down that elusive liquid lightning that reached through me. When he finally let go of me, I could see a smile lingering on his face. "I love you too Mia Lavenski." He says as I lean my head against his chest with him arms wrapped around me. A few sparkles start to appear around him and he starts glowing. "Kyle what's happening?" I ask and he continues smiling at me.  "I'm dying again. Except this time I'm happy and I hold no grudge against anyone. You helped me find peace. That means I can now pass on properly. Thank you." He holds my cheek and slowly starts fading away.  "Kyle." I say his name as tears roll down my cheeks.  "Don't forget, I love you and always will." He says with a smile and plants one last kiss on my lips before completely disappearing into thin air. "I won't forget." I promise this to myself. This marks the end of a story in which two people with different pasts from different worlds collide and find comfort in the presence of each other. A story whose main purpose is to show the world the importance of caring for one another. Accepting people for who they are and learning to forgive and forget the offences of others when they wrong you. A lesson to be learned through the pains of others and a message to be passed on to future generations about the importance of appreciating the people who walk into your life. -TashaTSammy (author)
