"Okay. Where's the speaker?" He asks.
"It's in my pocket." I say and try to hand it to him.
"Ghosts can't touch the things that contributed to their death. So you'll have to do what I say for now." He says but my mind is stuck on how this little thing could contribute to his death and who that girl was in the picture.
"Okay."
He picks up my phone from the counter and hands it to me.
"I downloaded a song for you last night. Listen to it first with headphones so that you can get a hold of the lyrics and the rhythm then play it through the speaker. For now you can connect the speaker to your charger while you listen to the song."
"Okay."
He goes into the living room and I do everything he told me to do.
I'm pretty sure he managed to access my phone easily cause I took out the password.
Before he left he gave me the name of the song. Dancing with your ghost by Sasha Sloan. I've never heard it before even though I'm kind of a song fanatic.
I put on my headphones and start playing the song. The soft rhythm of the song gets to my heart and with every word she says I fall deeper into my world of imagination. Thoughts of dancing to this song slowly with someone special to me. If only it were real.
When the song is done, I call out to Kyle.
"You done?" He asks.
"Yeah."
"Good. Come in here with the speaker for a bit."
I follow him into the living room and notice that the curtains are closed and no light from the outside seeps in through any openings of the windows or the door. It's already getting dark outside so it's not really bright inside and I can barely see a thing.
"Come on." He gives me a little push and closes the door behind me. The room is now completely dark.
"Kyle what's going on?" I ask.
"Just close your eyes." He says and I do just that.
"Okay now what?"
I hear a soft 'click' and then he talks to me from behind.
"Open them."
When I open my eyes the view in front of me is so beautiful that I gasp.
The chairs have all been pushed to the sides of the room and the table is set in front of the television stand. It's sides are covered with small orange lights and on top of it there lay a small rose flower. A line of small lights cover the corners of the room and create an amazing scenery.
"Kyle." I sigh his name.
"Play the song." He says and I start playing the song.
He leads me to the table and I set the phone and speaker down. He picks up the flower on the table and kindly asks.
"May I?"
He places the rose in my hair and takes my hand.
"I hope you know how to dance." He says with a smile.
I smile back and we slowly move to the rhythm of the song. I want to have a good time but my mind can't help but wander to the picture of that girl and him. I find myself feeling gloomy and I fail to focus on the dance. Eventually I give up and take my hand out of his.
"I'm sorry. I just can't." I say and he gives me a worried look.
"You.... You saw something in that box, didn't you?" He asks.
I don't answer and that seems to confirm his question.
"What did you see?" He asks with a serious look on his face.
"It's none of my business so it's not worth saying." I look away and cross my arms a little.
He stares at me for a minute and speaks up.
"Chelsea." He says and I sadly look at him.
"How did you know?" I ask.
"I can see the traces of the image you held. Mia what was on that picture?" He asks with a pained look.
"You two were kissing." I say and bite my lip in fear that the tears welling up in my eyes might fall.
"Her. She's the reason I died." He says without looking at me.
"What?" I whisper.
"She's the witch who got me here in the first place." He says and in an instant he becomes completely infuriated.
The things in the house start shaking and I start panicking.
"She ruined my life and left me completely helpless!" He yells and one of the lights explodes.
"Ah!" I scream.
"Kyle!" I call for him but he doesn't listen.
"She told me that she loved me! She promised that she wouldn't leave me no matter what! Lies! They were all lies!" He yells and more lights explode.
"Kyle stop!" I shout to him as tears start rolling down my face.
"There is no such thing as true love! Even after years of being together, she still decided to stab me in the back! The one person I thought really loved me! It was all fake!"
This time a strong wind starts to blow things around. He slowly starts moving further away from the floor and my hair whips around violently.
"No one loves me and no one ever will because of you Chelsea!" He screams and I grab a hold of his hand.
I use all my strength to yank him back and wrap my arms around his neck. I embrace him tightly and speak to him as I cry.
"I love you." I say and everything stops moving.
"What?" He asks as he stands frozen in one place.
"I love you Kyle Olsen."
I hear soft sniffles as I hold him tighter.
He falls to the floor and I go down with him. Holding him in my arms, he breaks down crying and buries his face into my shoulder.
Everything around us slowly floats back down and the wind stops blowing. Some of the remaining lights flicker and all that's left is complete silence.
