The wail of police sirens cut through the air. I stepped back, watching as the traffickers froze like cornered rats. Patrol cars skidded to a stop, and officers poured out like a damn SWAT unit. One of them—an older guy with a face that had seen too much—walked straight toward me. “We got a tip about human trafficking,” he said, his eyes scanning the scene. “Seems like we arrived just in time.” I barely looked at him.
