At the end of the day we were all around us girls lockers.
“Hey, Landon’s going to ride with you home. Were all going on dates and we need his car.” Hayden said
“Umm…” I looked at Landon “yeah no problem.” Lizzy and Moriah approached me.
“Talk to him Hannah, hear what he has to say.” Lizzy spoke first.
“Wha-“
“Don’t we know something happened at lunch, just hear him out please.” Moriah said while Lizzy nodded their heads in agreement.
“Fine.” I breathed out.
“Ok we love you will, call you later.” Ruth spoke this time
“Ok love you too.” When they all walked off it was just me and Landon.
“Whose driving.” I asked. “Me” Landon said. I gave him my car keys and began to walk to walk to my car.
The drive was quiet until I realized we were not heading towards our neighborhood. “Where are we going Landon?” He did not reply and just kept driving.
10 minutes later we pulled up to the old park we used to come to when we were younger.
“We need to talk.” He said as we got out the car
I followed him, and when we got near the playground area. I took off to the top of the play pen and sat down. I closed my eyes and looked up at the sky.
“Why didn’t you ever tell me.” Landon said sitting next to me. I was waiting I had felt him looming over me for the last 5 minutes.
“Tell you what”
“How you felt about me”
“You had girlfriends and when you didn’t you always were talking about one. There was just never a time to tell you.”
“I always had girlfriends because I thought you didn’t like me. Hannah I –“
“Landon, don’t, you don’t have to because you feel bad. This –“
“I don’t feel bad, and I also technically never had a girlfriend. All the girls before were girls that were interested in me, but I never made things official with them.”
“Then why did you say they were your girlfriend”
“At the time it just seemed like the easiest thing to do. Also, they were girlfriends. Girls that were friends” He said with a laugh.
“What are you trying to say Landon.”
“I’ve liked you since we were 13, Hannah, you’ve only been the girl that I would truly settle down with.”
“I’ve liked you too, but –“ I was cut off when Landon smashed his lips onto mine.
Are lips moved in perfect sync. I wanted to lose myself to this kiss. I do not know when, but I was now straddling Landon’s lap. Then my phone started ringing.
“Hello…”
“Where the hell are you at Hannah Nikkole Williams” my father yelled into the phone.
“I’m at the park with Landon, what’s wrong dad” Landon started looking around, and I noticed he tensed up.
“Someone has been following you and just sent me a threat, put Landon on the phone.” I gave the phone to Landon
“Yes sir…yeah I spotted him…not on my watch… yes were together now” that statement had me furrowing my brows.
“We’ll stay here till he decides to do something…five minutes… alright… yeah I got her…yea, bye.” He hung up the phone and gave it back to me.
“Why’d you tell my dad that”
“Because you’re my girlfriend now whether you like it or not.”
“I like it, guess.” I said trying to keep my smile hidden.
Then the shots started firing. “Get down” I yelled and then pushed Landon down. It was happening so fast. The next thing I realized was the burning in my shoulder and side.
Isiah McKinley, from the McKinley clan one of my family’s enemy had just shot me, and not just once. My vision started to blur.
The last thing I saw before going down was Isiah running off.
