I quickly left the bike there quickly turning the ignition off and grabbing the keys with me. I dialled Keith's number as I headed for the restaurant's door.
"Who said to go inside?" Keith said answering on the first ring. "You're two o'clock"
I looked and saw him signalling me to come towards him smugly.
"Where the f**k is my brother!!" I made to grab for his shirt but he quickly stepped behind.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. I was wondering why he looked so familiar. So he's family... Come with me."
I was enraged in fact I don't think enraged could even begin to describe what it was I was feeling. I silently followed him knowing not to cross him in anyway.
At least not until I got Joe back safe and soundly. I saw two guys whom I didn't recognize but one of them was holding Joe dangerously close to the cliff. One push and he was dead. He saw me and started sobbing louder. They had tied his hands and legs with some pieces of clothes and had tied his mouth with a piece of fabric that I could only hope was clean. I felt the tears coming to my eyes but I fought them back. I had to stay strong for Joe.
"Please let him go. He's just a child. That's being too ruthless....even for you!"
"I'd watch my tongue if I were you." Keith said tutting.
I drew in a shaky breath "what is it you want?"
He smiled widely.
"Please just let him go first." I said in a shaky vulnerable voice. I hated sounding so weak.
"Beg." He said simply. I couldn't believe what he'd just asked me to do.
"What?"
"I said beg."
Keith's POV
I couldn't help feeling guilty as I watched her waiting to see what she'd do. It really wouldn't make a difference since either way I was going to let the kid go.
I watched as she suddenly looked defeated and I immediately felt even worse.
I silently watched as she waged a war within herself and as she looked at her brothers tear streaked face.
She went down on her knees her head bowed. This completely caught me off guard.
"Please let him go. I'll do anything." Her voice was shaky and barely above a whisper.
Okay my conscience was really not settling well with this. The kid could be traumatized cause of me. Did I really honestly care though? Hmmm debatable...
I signalled the two bikers and they let him go and untied him. He quickly ran into his sisters arms and cried on her shoulder as she tried reassuring him with the silent tears streaking down her face. She picked him up and wiped away her tears.
"Thank you." She told me softly. This girl really had a vulnerable spot for this boy. I nodded feeling uncomfortable in the awkward silence.
"So you said you'll do anything?" I said after awkwardly clearing my throat.
Her eyes hardened and I immediately regretted saying that. She nodded her head warily.
"Lemme make it up to you." I simply said like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Chloe's POV
"Lemme make it up to you." Was he for real. I stared at him waiting for him to burst out laughing or something but he looked dead serious.
" You're serious?" I didn't mean for it to come out so incredulously....but it did.
"Yes." No beating around the bush, trying to explain himself.
"Sorry-" I began but he quickly cut me off.
"A deal's a deal Chloe."
"I'm sorry but I don't think I am a masochist. So if you'll excuse me-"
"You do know you're overpowered right? "He added with a smug look on his face.
"At least lemme drop him off first." I said between my teeth trying to cage in my anger. Joe clung to me tightly his body still shaking.
"I said I'm making it up to you. He was inclusive of your day wasn't he? So he's in to. We're going to the zoo."
Joe's head perked up at this. Then he turned his teary face to Keith.
"Then maybe McDonalds if we'll still have time, of course we could always continue tomorrow."
That's how Joe forgot I existed and jumped into Keith's arms. Keith who was gonna friggin' kill him!!!!
"I take it that's a yes?" Keith said looking at me daring me to break Joe's heart.
"Of course it is." I said as sweetly as I could forcing a smile.
