Raelynn’s POVI knew this was asking for trouble but I couldn't help it. It was comfy.
"Oh, yeah. I forgot to make two bags." Xavier said getting up from the couch. I groaned as I lost my cuddle buddy.
Xavier was a good guy. I wish I'd known that before. Besides being a great kisser he was decent, and he proved it when I asked to stop. We'd done a lot of kissing and rubbing but nothing more than that. I still was thinking about my mate.
My phone chimed and I checked it. It was a text from Maya with a photo of her and Prince William at a bar.
Maya: Miss you. If you feel up to it, come down. It's fun.
I chuckled and texted her back.
Ray: No thanks. Got a party of my own going on.
I turned and snapped a selfie of me and the TV with Xavier in the background making the popcorn. Sent.
"So what are we watching?" Xavier asked, coming back with the popcorn.
“Nothing Disney.” I said, scrolling through the movie choices, “None of that true love’s kiss and happily ever after crap.”
“What about an action movie?” He suggested putting the popcorn down on the coffee table.
“I’ve got it.” I said finding what I was looking for. “RED.”
“Good one.”
“Yep. Action, humor, and no happily ever after.” I selected it and was ready. “And maybe if we last through this one, we can watch the second one.”
Xavier pulled me close and wiped some hair away that was in my face, “Did the bus ride really get to you that much?” He asked.
I shrugged and snuggled into his chest. “Yes and no.”
He kissed the top of my head and grabbed the popcorn bowl. “Well if you wanna talk about it, I’m here.”
I blinked as sunshine shone into my eyes. I groaned and rolled over so the sun could kiss my ass.
A strong arm pulled me close.
I immediately went into defense mode. I rolled over on top of him, pinning his arms with my knees, and pushed my arm up against his neck, preparing to punch with the other.
"f**k Ray, it's me." Xavier said, grabbing my arm.
I sighed in relief, "Xavier. What the f**k?"
I looked down at Xavier under me, and recognized that this bed was his, in his Alpha room. I looked down and saw, and felt, that I was still in my baggy t-shirts, girls running shorts, and panties. I breathed a sigh of relief.
"What are we doing in your bed?" I asked sternly.
"You passed out somewhere between 'I am getting the pig' and 'they put some wires in not very nice places.' So I brought you in here when your brother told me to move you." He pushed me back onto my side of the bed, "And don't worry, I didn't try anything. We just cuddled in sleep and enjoyed not being drunk."
I raised my eyebrow but before he could explain the door opened, "X do you have any-"
I grabbed a box of tissues and threw it at the intruder, "Don't you boys ever knock?"
Owen caught the box, "Ray what-"
I could almost see his brain working then his face got red and he got angry. "Really Xavier. My sister? She told you no and when she gets one step away from home you pounce on her?" He yells.
Xavier reaches over and grabs his box of tissues and throws it at him too. "Use your eyes i***t. And if it was anyone your sister seduced me."
"Hey." I said straddling him again, this time just pretending to hit him.
I saw he was smiling and he batted my hands away easily.
"Eww I don't want to see it." Owen yelled and he shut the door.
Xavier and I both laughed and I rolled off him again. "You know I could get used to this." He said lying back, "Why don't you just sleep with me every night?"
"Cause you'd like that." I teased walking to the door, "And I'm not that easy."
I left the room and took two steps away till I heard him yell, "I won't give up!"
I shook my head chuckling and went to my room. It was just like it had been last night. My clothes from yesterday lay by the foot of the bed with my suitcase laying open on the floor.
I looked at the time on the alarm clock; eight twenty-six am. I grabbed the pamphlet and looked at the time for breakfast six to eight-thirty am.
I turned and bolted back to Xavier's room. He was just sitting up when I opened the door.
"Looks like girls can't knock either." He joked.
"No time for jokes. Breakfast closes in like 2 minutes."
His eyes went wide and he followed me out of the room. I remembered to grab my key card off the bar and we booked it to the elevators.
"Forget it." X said, pushing the button, "even if we take the stairs we won't get there in time."
"We have to try at least." I groaned as the elevator dinged, "I refuse to not eat breakfast."
"And that's," said a voice, "why you have best friends."
"Maya, thank the goddess." I sighed in relief when I saw both she and her mate were carrying plates.
"Why didn't you come to breakfast?" She asked stepping out of the elevator. "And were you really gonna barge down there, late, looking like that?"
I knew I must look awful to her. My hair was messy, I was in my pajamas and on top of that, I had no shoes.
I looked over at X and he was no better in plaid pajama pants with no shirt and shoes.
"I don't know." I said, smirking at him, "it makes it seem like we really are on vacation."
He smirked back and took the key from my hand and led the way back to the suite.
'What the f**k?" Maya mouthed as Prince William walked past her.
'Later' I mouthed back and followed them in.
"I'm gonna help Ray get ready, be nice to them, k sweetie?" Maya said, setting down her plate and giving her prince a peck on the cheek.
"Sure thing princess." He replied, setting his plate down and sitting on the couch.
Once she’d pushed me in, closed, and locked the door she turned on me. "Spill."
So I told her, how Xavier and I had a heavy makeout session, how we didn't do it, the movie night, and waking up.
"Why didn't he just put you in your room?" Maya asked, brushing my hair.
I shrugged, "That would be something you have to ask him. Anyway, I know you're dying to tell me all about his royal highness."
She giggled and began french braiding my hair. "He's amazing Ray. He's perfect for me. I have to admit I don't think I'm perfect for him but he says I just need time and practice."
"What do you mean you're not perfect for him?"
She continued braiding for a bit before answering. "William isn't any normal Alpha, Ray, he's going to be Alpha King. I'm just a normal she-wolf who loves fashion, family, friends, and parties. How am I gonna fit into his world, let alone be his Luna and Queen?"
I nodded slightly, "I see how that could be hard. I'm sure his mom will give you advice and let you shadow her."
She grunted, "Yeah. I met his parents last night before the mixer. They were really nice but I think they were disappointed."
"Who could be disappointed with you?" I asked shocked, "You're gorgeous, bright, kind and the most genuine person I know."
I knew I embarrassed her but she should know that she's amazing.
"Done." She said tying it with a hair tie. "Now. We're going to the Mountain today so you need to dress warmly."
I look her over and smile. She's wearing a white shirt with pink hems and a pink cartoon smiling snowflake on her chest. Then she has light blue jeans, a pair of light brown snow boots with fluff, and a pair of fluffy pink leg warmers.
"Well, I can't match that." I snickered.
She gave me a playful shove, "William said I looked cute."
I laughed and walked over to my suitcase. "So just long sleeves and jeans? We're renting geer there, right? So…."
Maya was shaking her head, "No Ray-Ray. I’m dressing you. You have to look good so you can attract your mate."
"I’m scared." I said, looking at her smile and shuddering.
"Trust me, you'll look irresistible."
I felt like I wanted to die.
Maya at least let me put some input into my outfit. So I wasn't totally uncomfortable. I beat back all the makeup but a little concealer. I reasoned that it would only get messed up when I skied or snowboarded.
When I went out for breakfast Xavier was already dressed and done. Owen and Alex looked uncomfortable while Prince William looked relieved to see Maya.
"What's going on?" I asked, looking between all the boys in the room.
"Nothing." Xavier shrugged, standing up and stretching.
"It wasn't nothing." Maya said slowly then she turned on him, "What did you do Xavier Black?"
He shrugged again, "I just told it like it is."
"What did you say?" I asked, knowing it had to do with me.
He hesitated. "Things were fine till people who can't knock said what they saw, and I seem to be the only one who wasn't troubled by it."
"What? Is that code?" Maya asked me.
I facepalmed and looked over at Alex and Owen who both weren't looking at me.
"I need breakfast." I said sitting down and pulling X with me.
I began eating the cold eggs and bacon before someone spoke.
"I think it's inappropriate." Prince William said.
I looked up at him. "What is? Eating breakfast?"
"No. Starting a relationship when you're here to find your mate." He clarified.
I looked at Xavier and he rolled his eyes.
"Look, I don't know what you all think you know, but Xavier and I are just friends."
"Who sleep together." Alex added.
"You don't know what you're talking about Alex." I said, pointing my spork at him.
"I may not have stayed to watch but I know what I saw." He spat.
I glared at him, grabbed a muffin, and walked back into my room to pack. We were spending the night in the mountains so I needed my stuff.
We were supposed to meet back down in the lobby to get back on the bus to ride another couple hours to the mountain. But I guess when your mate is the prince, you get the royal treatment.
Prince William had a SUV limo that would be taking him, Maya and any friend that wanted to come up to the mountain ahead of the bus’s. Alex and Owen said they'd rather ride the bus than be near me and Xavier. Maya took my side and apparently talked to her mate so he set the 'issue' aside for Maya.
"I can't wait for you to meet Callan." Maya said happily as she, the prince, Xavier and I waited for his friends and the limo to arrive. "He was so nice when I met him last night. He's a little ruff around the edges but I could tell he was a good person."
"Yeah." Prince William agreed, "He's a bit of a workaholic but he does so for the good of his pack. He isn't much of a party person but tolerates them for me and to save face for his pack."
"I can tell you admire him a lot, Prince William." I noted.
"Please," he said, waving his hand that wasn't holding Maya’s. "You're my Maya’s best friend. So we're practically family. Call me William or Will."
I smiled a bit. "So Will, has Callan found his mate? What kind of a girl is she?"
"He's still unmated, though not for a lack of trying. Girls throw themselves at him all the time. More than they used to throw themselves at me. He's very stand-offish though. He doesn't let any girls get real close to him."
"But he's really nice and I can tell he's lonely." Maya chimed in.
I just nodded and let my mind wander. Maybe I’d find my mate on this trip, then I’d have him for the rest of my week. I smiled faintly as I imagined all the mind-blowing s*x that we’d have, locked in our room, ordering room service just so we could stay there.
It had me impatient just thinking about it.
“Of course.” Will sighed chuckling.
“What?” Maya asked curiously.
“Callan had to take his crew home so he could train a bit and do some work things.”
She smiled, “At least he’s coming though.”
As we waited I got more and more anxious. I kept looking around, I felt like something or someone was going to attack me out of nowhere.
Xavier noticed and walked behind me and began to rub my shoulders, which were tensed up. “Calm down Ray. I know you’re nervous but you gotta relax.”
“I can’t.” I whispered feeling uneasy about him being behind me.
The feelings just grew as the time passed.
“Oh, looks like Callan is here.” Will said, looking behind me.
I turned and a second later I saw a black hummer pulling into the parking lot and taking one of the VIP parking spots.
The back door opened and two boys who looked exactly alike leaned out. “Your highness, we have arrived.”
“I see that.” Will laughed.
The twins were both tall with dirty blonde wavy hair, dark blue eyes, and wide shoulders. I had no doubt that they would be a formidable foe.
They went to the back and popped the trunk to get their suitcases.
The front doors opened and the wind blew.
I sniffed and then took the deepest breaths I’d ever taken. In the air there was the most relaxing and intoxicating smell. It smelled like fresh baked bread and the smell of a campfire. It was musted with something that my senses told me was sweat. But instead of making the smell less appealing it made my core heat up and I stifled a moan.
I felt Xavier stiffen and grip my shoulders hard while Will turned to me with a curious expression.
I stared at the car, it had to be coming from there. For the first time in days my wolf, Charity, sturred and rose.
Charity. I said, Where on earth have you been?
I’m sorry Raelynn. I’m just tired. But do you smell that?
I internally rolled my eyes, Of course.
I watched as two more men came around to grab their suitcases.
The one that came from the passenger side was tall and well built with light brown skin, black curly hair that was shaved around the edges and the back. I briefly saw that he had an extended goatee and a diamond stud in each of his ears.
But my attention was drawn to the other man. He was on his phone but I was sucked in. He was tall like the others and built like a god with a chiseled jaw with five o’clock shadow and beautiful gray eyes. He was wearing a tight dark blue v-neck shirt that showed off part of his chest and let a tattoo on his left side just peek out. His arms and chest were straining against the shirt and all I wanted was to rip it off of him and cover his body in my saliva.
I felt my core dripping at the sight of him and everyone was looking at me now.
“Uhh Raelynn.” Xavier cleared his throat. I’d never heard his voice that deep before.
“Hey, Callan.” Will yelled and the man looked up.
Our eyes met and I felt my knees go weak.
Mate. Charity yelled in my head.
