Jake knew Alyssa was getting mad at him with each day that passed before they could see each other. After their night at the tree, they spent the picnic together, but her mother was watching him closely. He’d hoped to sneak away with her for a little time together, but with Marie following them around, he was lucky he managed to kiss her before he had to get home for the evening.
He spent the next two weeks balancing his time between helping Lana and work. He’d accepted Harry’s job and felt like he was working twice as many hours so he could keep up with his work in the fields and learn some of Harry’s job at the same time.
