Chapter 10

1931 Words

Morgan Worry wormed its way through me as I approached the back of the kitchens, and I feared I"d been taken for a fool. Especially as there didn"t seem to be anyone there. Had Gus lied to me? He didn"t feel like the type but it wasn"t like I was a great judge of character. If no one turned up, then I was just going to have to make a break for it myself. I couldn"t stand the idea of going back to my room, defeated a second time. A light flicked on and I ducked behind a low wall. It seemed unlikely that Father had noticed I was missing already, but it was better to act like everyone was out for me. Then again, I supposed that was true. Most people at the Nest would turn me in if they realised I was trying to escape. My heart was pounding out of my chest as I snuck towards the entrance.
