Dinner

I awoke still on the floor, dried blood on my face. I carefully rose from the floor and slowly walked to the bathroom door. I saw a large and open standing shower and made my way over to it and turned the gold faucets on, springing the shower to life. I carefully peeled off the dress my mother had loved so much off with my uninjured arm, the other bruised and still in pain from when Alex had gripped it so tightly earlier. I stood in the shower for a long time letting the hot water and steam envelope me before I started to clean my bloody face meticulously. After the shower I wrapped myself in a white plush towel and walked to the huge vanity across from it and wiped the steam from the mirror. My face looked rough, with bruises forming on my cheek and nose. I noticed some makeup in a drawer on the side and began applying it to try to cover the markings. Once I had finished covering my face and drying my hair I went out of the bathroom and into the closet hoping to find something new to wear that didn't have blood on the front of it. The closet was almost larger than my old bedroom, with clothes lining the racks all in my size. I could tell most of it was the Alphas style though more than my own. I settled on a black a line dress that went just below my knees with a deep V neckline. Unfortunately it was one of the more modest options I had to choose from for dinner. Once I was dressed I went to sit in one of the large plush rose colored chairs in the sitting area and waited for someone to come get me. I tried to coax Nadine into speaking but she did little more than whine sadly at me and go back to her normal silence for the day. This was all taking a serious toll on her and I felt awful. After about 15 minutes of sitting in silence I heard the lock click again and the Gamma named Lukas opened the door. "It is time for dinner with the Alpha my Luna." He said with a bow. I got up from my chair and as I walked towards him he must have noticed the bruising on my face and arm despite my effort to hide it with makeup and he winced before regaining his composure. He led me back down the hallway we had come from earlier that day and further past the office we had been in before. At the other end of the hall we turned and made our way into a dining area. It wasn't small but wasn't nearly as large as the main dining hall on the main level of the pack house that was made for many members of the pack to eat together at once. This was more intimate with candles along the walls and a smaller table only large enough for four chairs. An ornate centerpiece sat in the center of the table with gold crescent moons that formed holders for more candles that burned lowly. Alpha Alex was already seated at the head of the table. He stood from his chair when I entered and plastered a fake smile on his face faining niceness, I don't know why. An Omega on the other end of the table scooted out a seat for me to sit in and I sat wordlessly, Alpha Alex mimicking my action on the other end. Another Omega came and placed a plate of decadent looking good in front of me but eating was the last thing on my mind although I knew I likely needed the strength. I forced a few bites of the baked potato in the deafening silence. After a few minutes of us eating quietly I felt a spark of electricity enter the room, and I sneaked a glance up to see that Chase had entered the room and was walking towards me. My breath hitched a little as I caught his eye, but then he looked over my face and down my arm at the darkening bruise forming and a flash of anger crossed his face and his eyes darkened. "Isn't she lovely Chase? Absolutely stunning, the perfect fit for an Alpha" Alex suddenly said. I stiffened at the words as Chase's eyes got darker, thankfully his back was to the Alpha right now. "Yes Alpha, of course." Chase replied keeping his voice much calmer than the look in his eyes that he kept locked on mine. "I certainly can't wait to start putting pups inside her." Alex said with a dark chuckle. Those words almost put Chase over the edge as he gripped his fists at his side. A look of shock was covering my face now and Alex's chuckle formed into a deep and devious laugh. "Oh little Luna, don't be such a prude." Alex said to me and I quickly corrected my face and looked down at my food. Chase took his place on the wall behind me as my guard and I could no longer see him. I prayed to the moon goddess he wouldn't do anything to betray him. Thankfully the rest of the meal continued in silence as I picked at my plate, unable to eat more then a few bites. After Alex finished his plate he stood quickly from his chair causing it to scrape on the stone floor and startling me so much my fork clattered to the ground. Alex looked amused at my terror of him as he smirked at me. "I'll be easy on you tonight little Luna, it is your birthday after all. But don't expect my kindness every day. I will see you tomorrow." He started towards to door and my stomach felt it might betray me, and empty itself all over the dining room floor. Alex looked back over his shoulder as he was leaving the room and stated "She's done for the night Chase, take her back to her rooms and keep watch for the night" and with that Alex sauntered down the hallway with Lukas trailing behind. I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding once he was gone and started breathing heavy and erratic. Was about to have a panic attack? My vision was going blurry on me and I felt nauseous while the room spun in my head as I tried to stabilize my breathing. But a moment later I felt strong arms wrap around me and lift me out of my seat. My body started to tingle again and though I was still dizzy I knew it was Chase who held me in his arms. He carried me down the hallway back to my room, and I worked on leveling out my breathing. I heard my door shut and the lock click and the next thing I knew I was standing on my feet nose to nose with Chase with my back against the wall. His hand reached up and protectively stroked my bruised cheek and I realized he was trying to calm hisself down too. He bent his nose down into my neck and took a long and slow inhale of my scent. With his nose bent down into me I was able to breathe into his collar bone and take in his own scent, which started to calm my body. We stood there like that for several minutes, seeking each other's comfort as our heartbeats regulated and matched pace with one another. After awhile Chase lifted his head to look me in the eye. "I'm so sorry my love" He cooed as he tucked my always unruley stray curls back behind my ear. Sending more waves of static through me. "I think we need to talk my love
