Amy's Pov
I woke up with the usual feeling every weekday, I felt so happy and energised. I took my bath, got prepared for school, had my breakfast and kissed my mom goodbye. I was surprised she didn't start her morning tantrums, but oh well, maybe I was lucky today.
My hands were on the door knob and I was about to step out when my mom's voice called out to me. As always, her voice was firm and her expression remained unfazed.
"Get those clothes changed or there will be no school for you today." She sipped her coffee once she was done making her statement.
"But mom, I love the clothes I'm wearing," I argued, but she didn't seem to care. She knew I loved school and wouldn't say no to her request.
"It's in your drawer," she said, still reading the magazine in her hand.
My eyes had tears in them waiting to stream down my face and I could literally feel steam coming out of my ears.
"Why does she have to bring this up now when I'm obviously late for school," I wailed in my heart, walking up the stairs to carry out her instructions, when an idea popped into my head.
"Why don't you sneak out," I heard my wolf speak in a subtle voice. I smiled victoriously as I headed for the room, shutting the door behind me to keep my mom out. I pretended to open the drawer as I examined my window. My mom was a smart lady and I knew if I had escaped without searching for the dress, I would get caught.
I looked down my window and that was when I realised how high my room was from the ground. I gulped, sweat dripping down my face. I was stuck between two decisions, my style was on the line. I knew I was a wolf but hitting that floor from this kind of distance could leave me in pain for hours, but I finally decided to take the risk when my mom started banging on my door.
I gazed anxiously at the door and at the window before jumping out. I could literally hear my heartbeat as I shut my eyes tightly, preparing to hit the hard floor.
"Ouch!"
I winced in pain once I landed on the floor and the moment I opened my eyes, my mom was in front of me, her blue wolf eyes staring at me angrily.
"What do you think you're doing," my mother asked me with a straight face,
"Going to school mom," I answered stubbornly, even though fear was eating me up deeply.
"I can't be like you mom, I love my style and my outfits," I shouted as I spoke, my eyes not daring to meet my mother's gaze.
My words silenced my mother's rage and I could feel the tension easing off as I slowly set my gaze on her face.
I saw her smiling softly and, although I didn't know why, I felt a loving care coming from her. It's been a long while since I saw her smile like that. She sighed heavily before asking me to go and, with her permission, I shyly walked past, feeling like a hero who had just won a battle. I turned to her again, but she was gone. I smiled before nodding in amusement as I took quick steps with my aching leg to the roadside.
I managed to board a taxi, panic evident in my eyes as I dusted my body, I was already late for school. Every second seemed like decades until I finally got to the school's hallway.
I ran through the plain scanty hallway with my army green hoodie covering my face in such a way that I hardly saw where I was going. I was a really shy person, keeping a low profile to avoid bullies on my trail, but that morning I was actually pissed off.
I managed to arrive about five minutes early but unfortunately, I had to stay in hiding because I saw Christine, the ruler of the bullies, walking down the path I wanted to tread. I stretched out my head, waiting for the right opportunity. That took quite a long time to happen because Christine observed she was being watched.
By the time Christine was gone, I was almost two minutes late. I wondered how she could walk so slowly, but then I figured out it was probably because of her high status, she was trying to impress even the insect on the wall.
I hurriedly made way for my classroom but on my third turn, I bumped into his rock-hard chest, causing my circular-shaped glasses to shift to an irregular position. My inner wolf howled for joy as we both inhaled his scent. He scented like cider and raspberries. I wondered who he could be, but my shy nature didn't let me get a peek. I slowly adjusted my glasses without looking up, yet I could feel his piercing gaze all over me.
My lips lightly murmured the word "Mate" before I stormed off due to how shy I was feeling. I guess he didn't hear me. Still, I couldn't believe I found him in high school. Thoughts began to cloud my mind while I headed for the ladies' room, slamming the door behind me as I let out a deep sigh. I stared at myself in the mirror as my mom's words came back to me.
"The only way to attract your mate is to dress to impress," I can't wait to let her know I found him without being dressed up like the mini doll she always wanted.
"Oh no… I didn't get the chance to behold his features," I painfully realised, facepalming myself in disappointment. How did I let my shy nature deprive me of such an opportunity? I sighed again while speaking to myself,
"I wonder if I will get to see him again, if he attends this school, if he feels for me the same way I feel for him." My heart's pace increased, as my mind went round the possibilities.
"Was my mom right?" I exhaled to calm myself before taking my backpack and heading for the classroom. Little did I know I was in for an adventure.
