Rex's Pov
Charlie's smile spread across his face as he watched me speak about my mate. He knew I didn't have much interest in girls. However, I noticed the surprise on his face the moment I mentioned her.
"I need to use the restroom, then we'll talk at the cafeteria, is that alright with you?" I heard Charlie say, to which I nodded.
Not wasting much time, I made quick steps towards the cafeteria. I felt something was wrong with me, but I didn't let it stop me. I thought I was nervous because Charlie was finally gonna tell me who that mystery girl was.
I got to the cafeteria just in time. Charlie hadn't arrived yet so I decided to take a seat in my favourite spot. The cafeteria was a well spaced room with wooden tables and chairs, white tile walls and some ceiling fans. I placed my hands on the table, drumming on them lightly as I thought about my angel when a sharp pain in my finger drew my attention.
I drew my finger to my face to see a splinter which caused blood to trickle down my index finger. I inhaled its metallic scent as my tongue hovered over my lips.
"Was I okay?" I questioned myself as my mind hovered over the thought of licking my own blood. I shook my head, looked around and although I was craving the metallic liquid, I removed the splinter, cleaned the blood on the napkin close by and disposed of it before anyone could notice.
At that very moment, Charlie walked in.
"What's up mehn, why are you acting all sneaky," Charlie questioned me and I, being unable to answer, just nodded my head.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes," I answered, going straight to the point.
"Well you don't seem too good," Charlie commented before taking a seat. He was clearly bothered about me, but how did I tell him I was craving blood? That's something I haven't heard any werewolf talk about, including my father.
"Let's find the mystery girl," Charlie smiled, interest filled his eyes. I could tell he was really happy for me, but I'd got another problem on my hands, one I knew Charlie couldn't solve.
"Describe her."
"Hmm?" I said with widened eyes and a raised brow,
"Are you so into this girl that you get lost the second I stop speaking? I asked you to at least give me a description of the girl you met today."
"But I told you I didn't see her face," I said in a pissed-off tone, banging the table caused others to gaze at us for five seconds before continuing their meals,
"Chill out men, you're getting pissed off? Did you see her clothes? Was she stylish, men give me something?" Charlie blurted out, exhaling heavily out of frustration."
"She seemed shy, I think she was so cute even if I didn't get to see her face, she smelled wonderful, she…"
"Men, you're going out of the point, you're in love, that's what I call love at first sight." Charlie interrupted, nonetheless, I was willing to grind the feeling into dust if she didn't meet up with my criteria.
"I'm not in love, at least not yet. She has to meet up to the standard," I explained to him to cool off jokes .
"Here's a description of her. She was wearing an army green hoodie, I felt like she wore glasses and, oh yh she was shy," that's the only description I could get." I saw the way his frustrated face brightened up at my new description,
"I know who your mate is," Charlie cleared the air, as I held onto his arm, begging me to tell me who she was,
"Her name is…"
"Hey guys," Christine, a blonde chick, the most popular girl in school, a baddie and a hottie came along. The way she dressed made all the guys drool over her except for me.
"Hey Christine," Charlie replied, itching his head nervously,
"How are you doing," he spoke again shyly. She had been his high school crush ever since forever, but it seems she had eyes on me instead.
"Hey Rex," I heard Christine say in her seductive voice, paying no attention to Charlie's greetings. I wish she hadn't spoken to me that way. I couldn't stand her.
"Can I sit here for lunch?" She was being a slut, one I knew Charlie would love to keep. Yes, she had perfectly shaped breasts, large hips and a sweet blueberry scent, but that was all I knew about her, she was basically invincible to me from the start.
"Why was she always making advances towards me instead of Charlie?" I said in a thoughtful manner, wishing she was going to disappear soon.
"Umm yh, feel free to join us Christine," Charlie said, pulling out a chair so she could sit beside him. He had always told me he smelled her scent, and sometimes thought she was his mate, but how she acted squeezed out the thought.
She smiled at me even when she knew I wasn't interested in her, making me want to get away as fast as possible. Suddenly, my mate's scent hit me. I sniffed the air, my heartbeat increased and my eyes darted around in panic.
I could see confusion imprinted on Charlie's face just as
Christine's eyes were also widened in shock,
"Mate! mate!" Christine called out, while looking at me, which confused me and Charlie. She was being weird and overly dramatic. She jumped on me, trying to keep me at bay, but I was quick to push her away, running out of the cafeteria with everything I got. I just scented her, I just scented my mate.
While all that was happening, I noticed Christine was trying to avoid Charlie. She ran after me and Charlie followed with all his might, trapping her in one of the lockers. Her blonde hair covered her perfectly shaped face and her blue-coloured eyes, she was perfect, Charlie thought to himself, as he adored her features.
"Mate!" She screamed out once Charlie was close to her and, even though I was far away, I paused. I looked around but there was not a single soul in the hallway and I knew instantly Charlie had found his mate, his hunch was right, she was the one.
"Me?" I heard Charlie say as he pointed to him. He had always heard his wolf call her Mate. Why did she come so late?
He saw a strong struggle between her and her wolf and it only meant one thing.
She was his mate.
