As father James drove away, a heavy weight settled on his chest. He looked at his packed bag on the floor of the car beside him and sighed. He had lied when he told John he was leaving first thing in the morning, he was actually leaving that very minute. He berated himself as he drove away, the weight around his heart increasing at a tremendous rate. “I have failed you, God.” Silence met his quiet admission, and he shook his head. “I couldn’t make him see reason, he’s stuck in his ways.” He said out loud, once again.
