And the story begins

Library card

Now time to call Kyle, I took a long breathe and looked at my phone screen as I dialed. He didn't pick up, so I  decided to call Maya instead.

"Hey finally, I was thinking of calling ya" she said

"Hi babe"

"Hi... wait a minute" I heard sound of opening and closing of the door "Did you click any pick of that town yet?"

"Bruh... I slept from airport to here. So missed pretty much everything" I told her

"Ughh, you sure are an i***t. If I were you excitement wouldn't have let sleep steal me away. Anyways please whenever you go out click pictures and send me, or better yet do i********: live. I am dying to see that town, so far I have only seen it on google..."

"Okay okay I will, I will. It's not like I am on Mars, I am in California's-"

"Luxurious town, that not everyone can afford to spend their vacations in let alone actually living there. Babe you are seriously lucky enjoy as much as you can. I know the circumstances but hey now you can't change them, so why not enjoy them?" 

"Well couldn't agree more" I said looking at the clock it's half past three.

"Also think of some solid excuse for staying so long at your aunt and uncle's. I mean you know everyone here will pay more attention to the fact that you spent six months in Victoria Sands but not for long Abby and Cristine will eventually start asking about college. Heck everyone will."

I didn't reply, this is something I have not thought about not yet atleast. This is something that is at the back of my mind constantly bugging me.

"Are you even listening to me?" Maya asked.

"Yes, Yes I am. I have like six months to think about it. I will come up with some excuse don't worry" I assured her.

"You better do. Now one more thing..." 

"Yep?" I asked when she paused.

"Uhh nothing just leave it" 

"Maya, come on I'll die in suspense tell me now" I said.

"No seriously nothing that important. But I promise when I am confirm, I mean when I'll be sure you should know about it I'll tell you"

Now there is not point of arguing her, Maya is stubborn when she sets her mind on something you can't change her decision. So sighing I said okay. We talked for fifteen more minutes as Maya filled me in with everything that I have missed over past three weeks, after I told my parents about pregnancy my they grounded me. Maya, Cristine and Abby used to come to visits once in three days, Maya knew the truth and Abby and Cristine thought I was sick. During those days I too wasn't in mood talking to anyone much, so mine and Maya's phone conversations were really short and hence I missed a lot of what happened. One thing that I noticed during our fifteen minutes long conversation was Maya avoiding Kyle's name. She was never a Kyle fan but after he and I started dating, she stopped loathing him or at least tried to. Something tells me she is somewhat heading back to square one.

Our breakfasts and dinners were awkward, Uncle prefer to stay quiet and aunt try out small awkward conversation with me on the topic I am not comfortable with baby and pregnancy. Heck our every conversation revolves around 'you should eat this it would be good for your and baby's health, you should eat that. You should sleep more. Take some rest'  That's all she talks with me about. Sometimes I think I hear excitement in her voice when she talks about baby. But her expressions remain neutral, so it is safe to say that I am just assuming things. Because that's how my mom used to talk about this baby, once she was over that shock phase, so maybe I am just trying to see my mom's happiness in aunt's eyes and hence imagining thing. I sighed keeping my chin on my folded forearms and looking out the window at two girls skipping in garden area of their house in front of ours and a man teaching his daughter to ride bicycle. 

It's been two days, since I have come here to live. And in two days I haven't left my room much except for dinners and breakfasts, I mostly do my lunch in my room. bruh.. It is getting really boring Time for some evening walk.

Getting up from window seat, that uncle brought yesterday from guest room. He didn't say anything simply adjusted it by the window, Said "it would be comfortable for you, in case you wanna sit by the window." and left. He didn't even give me chance to say thank you. Walking to my cupboard I pulled out a wide leg denim bottom and navy blue t shirt that said "I've been reckless" which made me wanna laugh and if it wasn't for my condition I would been on the floor holding my stomach and trying to catch my breaths by now. Because this couldn't have been truer. 

Tying my medium length blonde hairs in pony tail, I applied Kohl to my eyes and gloss to my lips. Putting on my white sneakers and taking my black sling bag. I went down stares to find aunt in kitchen preparing for the dinner.

"Umm can I go out if you don't mind" I asked her through kitchen's large rectangular window that opened in dining area. She turned to me and took my appearance in as she rubbed her hands on her apron "What where?"

"In local" I shrugged 

"No, you don't know this town. I can't let you go on your own in this condition"

"Don't worry I won't get lost, plus if I do though chances are minimal I have" I patted my bag "my phone with me. I will simply call you for directions"

"No Selen you don't understand, you are like three months pregnant I can't just let you go out on your own and see this town you know nothing about" she said walking up to window.

"Okay then how about your local library? I am sure y'all have dozens of those in this town. I want to get some books...issued from there you know..." 

"What! you want new books? Selen you already brought like six books with you. How many more do you want" her brows furrowed "and wait a minute do I look i***t to you? You will need library card for that and you don't have one" she narrowed her eyes at me.

".....I have read all those books, I want to read something new. As for the library card you see I want to get one, so I will go.... I mean I am going to stay here for next six months I obviously need a library card"

"You want library card and books? Fine tomorrow I will take you to our nearest library-"

"No please don't say No" time to use my weapon "besides I have been in this house for two days, I am getting bored. Going to library would help me feel fresh" I said with my puppy dog eyes.

Aunt sighed "You are not going to listen to me, are you?" 

I shook my head giving her a triumphant simile "Fine go. But I want you to return as soon as possible"

"You are the best" before even processing what am I about to do I hugged her as close as I could with window inbetween and kissed her cheeks "I promise I would be back as soon as possible" I said pulling from the hug. And ran for the door.

"Crap" I said slapping my forehead and running back to kitchen "I forgot to ask..." she is still standing by the kitchen window looking in the dinning area. I went behind her to look what she was looking only to find empty dinning room, so I snapped my fingers in front of her which obviously pulled her out of...whatever she was in.

"What happened to you?" I asked her. 

"Nothing!" she said blinking more than she should "What happened?"

"Directions to nearest library. I was about leave without knowing the way to my destination. Typical me"
